SHARING A QUICK UPDATE ON LIFE CURRENTLY.

Two posts in less than a week, who even am I anymore?! Seriously though, life has been pretty crazy around here lately. While I’ve had a hard time carving out space for house projects (let alone blogging about them), I’ve definitely been missing it. And so, this is my attempt to make more space for things that bring me joy – dreaming & scheming up ideas for our home, bringing those ideas to life, and of course, sharing them with all of you!
I’ve had SO many ideas building up these past several months, but with no real means to put them out into the world, they’ve all become a bit of a jumble in my head. I feel like I’ve been stuck in this design paralysis for too long now though, and while I still don’t really have much figured out yet, I’m ready to take some leaps of faith into it all and see just where it takes us. Scroll through the post below for a peek at some of the things we’ve been working on lately and catch up with all things currently.
Between work, house projects and life behind the scenes, we’ve had A LOT going on around here these past few months. In between all the crazy, we’ve been slowly chipping away at little changes around the house and, while I don’t feel like any space really feels “done” (will it ever really though?!), I am so happy to see even a little bit of progress. If you caught my entryway update the other day, you’ll know I’ve been looking for ways to bring a little warmth and character into our home and ever so slowly, I see that coziness working it’s way in with each little change I make.

Our entryway isn’t the only space I’ve been making these simple little changes in. I’ve added a beautiful antique table set and a lovely little side cabinet to our dining space, scattered some new lamps around the house and I’m currently shopping for new lighting for our main bathroom and upstairs hallway. Carson and I were also busy this past weekend hanging some new art around his room. He found some beautiful art on our recent trip down to Fernie and couldn’t wait to find a special spot in his room to hang it.

Speaking of changes, in my last Currently post, I mentioned that we were needing to figure out a plan for our old back family room space. Since finishing the basement it’s become a hodgepodge of a space – serving as a music room, home office and storage space all rolled into one. As you can imagine it’s been a bit of a mess. This has been one of the spaces that’s had me feeling stuck as I try to figure out exactly what we need this space to be most and, while I’m still not sure exactly what I want to do in here or just how I’m going to get there yet, I am SO tired of looking at this disaster of a space that I’m ready to jump in with a blind leap of faith and just see where it takes me. I mean anything has to be better than this mess, right?!

For many reasons (I’ll save the deep dive into those for another day), I’ve decided the first step is to move our office space back upstairs to one of our spare bedrooms (we currently have 3 spare rooms, far more than we need). Instead of moving this old furniture (which hasn’t really ever functioned well for us to begin with), I found a beautiful and super solid wood office suite on Facebook Marketplace that I think will serve our work-from-home needs SO much better. We got it all moved in this past weekend and I’m excited to get it all set up. While I do plan to make some changes in this office space down the road, I’m going to work on putting together our old back family room first. For now, this space will still be a great place for Brady to set up shop at home.

Like I said, we’ve had a ton of little changes happening around the house and I’ve got nothing but ideas for more swirling around my head and I’m SO excited to slowly, but surely start bringing them to life. I’m hoping to share all of these little changes in an update house tour post sometime this month, so keep an eye out for that. In the mean time, here’s a quick look at where we are currently…
CURRENTLY
Reading: I just finished this quick read, which I thought was good, but not great. Moving on to this now and, just a few chapters in, I’m really enjoying it! If you’re into personality traits or have heard of Enneagram and, like me, would like to learn more about it all – I highly recommend this book.
Writing: A loooooong (and very exciting!) list of projects we’d love to take on this Summer.
Creating: This is an area that I’ve definitely been missing lately. With so much going on with work, I just haven’t had the head space for to be creative lately. Planning to make a little more space for this in my life through the month ahead.
Planning: I’ve been working on some plans for our family room these past few weeks. Since finishing our basement over a year ago now, it’s become such a hodge-podge of a space (currently where Brady’s been working from home for the last two years). The disorganization and lack of definition in this space has been driving me nuts for far too long and, while I still don’t have all of the details figured out, it’s time to do something (anything) with this space. You can check out what it used to look like, before finishing up our basement, here.
Needing: A rug for our new family room space. Here’s the one I’ve been eyeing up (I think the colours may surprise you!).
Loving: I’m not sure I’ve ever loved a counter stool so much.
Wearing: I’ve been wearing this cozy shirt jacket everywhere.
On my wish list: I’ve been shopping for a new dining table for ages now and this one is quickly moving to the top of my wish list. I think it would look amazing with some white upholstered chairs at either end.
Working for me right now: Exercising with our new Peloton equipment. I absolutely LOVE it!
What’s not: Finding any semblance of balance with work, home life and blogging. This has been a constant struggle for me since going back to teaching last Fall.
Anticipating: Spring & Summer! I don’t think I’ve ever felt so happy to see the warmer weather roll in.
I’d LOVE to hear where are you currently! Let me know what’s new and exciting in the comments below.
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day my friends!

That’s great Wanda! I hope you love it as much as I did!
