SHARING A QUICK UPDATE ON LIFE CURRENTLY.

Welcome to 2023 my friends! I hope you had the most wonderful holiday and that this new year is already off to a fantastic start!
Our Christmas was every bit as magical as I’d hoped, despite us all having a nasty cold. Being sick forced us to slow down and huddle up as a family for a few days. Luckily our colds passed just quickly as they came and after a few days of lying low, we were able to still get together with our families through the holidays for lots of delicious food, fancy drinks and all sorts of celebrating.
We also managed to sneak away to the mountains for five days in Jasper with family. We had the best time together tobogganing, skating, swimming, skiing and all the moments between. I’m so glad we were able to carve out that time together – we certainly came home with the biggest smiles and so many happy memories that we’ll cherish for years to come. That’s what the holidays are all about, isn’t it?
While it’s always a little sad to see another holiday season behind us, a brand new year ahead always brings with it some excitement all its own. That promise of a fresh start always gets the wheels turning and, between house projects and my own personal ideas & aspirations, I can’t help but think of a zillion goals for the year ahead and I can’t wait to share them with you!
Read on for a quick little update of where we are currently…
CURRENTLY
Reading: I’ve been devouring my latest read – it’s SO good! Also, found this such an interesting read too.
Writing: My friends and I are hosting a little soup exchange (think cookie exchange, but with soup!). So, I’m on the hunt for the best soup recipes out there. If you have any good ones to suggest, please leave a link in the comments below. Planning to share a round up of my favourites next week.
Needing: Some window treatments for our kitchen, dining and living room areas. Still not entirely sure what I want to do here, but definitely needing to make up my mind soon.
Creating: Brady and I have been having so much fun putting together a list of goals for the year ahead. We’ve got travel & adventure goals, financial goals and of course, all sorts of goals for this new/old house of ours. I cannot wait to share them with you!
Loving: I downloaded this affirmation app a couple of weeks ago and I have to say, I’m really loving the positive affirmations it’s been sending my way. They also share a ton on their Insta account if you’d rather collect your affirmations that way.
To Do: This list is truly endless, but this month I really want to focus on getting the layout of our upstairs renovations finalized so that we can finally get moving with all of that. I’ve been thinking about creating a monthly to-do list to share here on the blog, is that something you’d be interested in following along with?
Wearing: Oh my gosh, this cozy robe was my uniform through the holidays and it’s still my favourite thing to curl up in as I drink my coffee each morning.
On my wish list: Some small art to scatter throughout our home. Planning to keep my eyes peeled on my next few shopping trips in the city, especially when I visit my favourite antique stores.
Planning: I mentioned already that we’re hard at work putting together our project list for 2023. First up will be our bedroom, bathroom and closet. My super talented sister-in-law has been helping to think up and draw up all sorts of layout options for these spaces (along with C’s bedroom) – I honestly don’t know what I’d do without her help on this one. Hoping to have the layout and design plans finalized by the end of this month. #fingerscrossed
Working for me right now: My new planner! I know paper & pencil planners aren’t for everyone, but they’re still my favourite way to organize my thoughts. After 5 years of using the same tried and true (but very expensive) custom planner, I made the switch to this beautiful weekly planner and so far, I’m happy to report that I’m loving it. I love the weekly spreads and how easily I can glance at my week and add to my daily to-do lists, but even more, I love the goal setting aspect to this planner. I often struggle to set long-range goals, so I especially appreciated the way this planner broke it all down, helping me to define my core values and then set some yearly goals, habits and intentions. Even better, it has me revisiting those goals and habits on a monthly and weekly basis, to ensure my time is intentionally poured into my goals and values. Best of all, it does all that while looking SO beautiful sitting on my desk! 😉
What’s not: Coming up with a clear picture of where I want to take the design of this house. It’s pretty hard to move ahead without a clear picture of where we’re going. I don’t know why I’m feeling so much pressure to get this just right, but it’s time to get going with things my friends. Hoping a combination of help, luck and a ton of blind faith will help us find our way. #wishusluck
Anticipating: All of the adventures, growth and happy memories this year will bring.
I’d LOVE to hear where are you currently! Let me know what’s new and exciting in the comments below.
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day my friends!
