our tudor cottage

Welcome to our home, we’re SO happy you’re here! We’ve been hard at work renovating this old tudor house of ours these past couple of years. We’d love for you to tour through some of the spaces to see what we’ve been up to.

welcome to our

tudor cottage home

This old house has always held such a special place in our hearts. Not only is it a beautiful Tudor style home, with loads of charm + character, but it’s filled to the brim with memories, dating all the way back to 1988.

After renovating our way through our old house, we weren’t planning a move, but the story of how we found ourselves back in this old house is a good one. While we love this old house, there’s no denying it needs A LOT of work, luckily we’re just the people for the job. We are SO excited to have the opportunity to bring this beautiful old house back to life again!

Meet the mercers

Hello! Iโ€™m Kristi, writer and creator behind Making it in the Mountains. I am a wife, a mother & a teacher. My husband Brady and I go all the way back to junior high. He works as an engineer through the day, but his true love is renovating (well, and skiing, he really loves skiing). Our son Carson is officially a teenager now (not sure how that happened so quickly). He’s outgoing, charming and so darn funny. He also loves to ski, so when Brady’s not busy renovating, the boys are often taking off to the mountains to hit the slopes together.

We started our renovation journey back in 2015 with our very first “fixer upper” and, while it was completely overwhelming not knowing a thing about DIY, design or renovation, we muddled our way through to create a beautiful home for our family.

Through the years, Brady has taught himself how to DIY everything from framing to installing hardwoods and we have yet to come across an idea for a space that he can’t bring to life.
