Weekend Reading #216
Sharing a quick little update and my favourite reads from the week.

Happy Friday my friends! It has been far too long since I’ve carved out some time to check in with you here on the blog. Life has been full, but in all the best ways.
There are honestly a million reasons this little blog has taken a backseat these past few months, but probably the biggest one would be my move to teaching full time. Aside from a few short term contracts over the years, I’ve only ever worked part time since Carson was born (14 years ago now), so the jump to full time has definitely been an adjustment for us all (thank goodness for a Grandma close at hand to help with all the after school rides!). While teaching full time has definitely made it harder to find time for all the things, I am truly enjoying my current grade 4 gig SO much, I honestly wouldn’t change it for the world. The staff and school community I’ve found are just beyond amazing – I honestly feel like I won the lottery ending up where I did.
Between the busiest month of the school year, navigating Carson’s busy schedule and Brady planning out and starting work on our deck, let’s just say June pretty much kicked my butt. While I survived the crazy schedule, it feels like I’ve been playing catch up with everything outside of school through most of July so far.
Brady and I have been diving into all the things these past few weeks – he is deep into the deck rebuild (I can’t wait to share it with you!) and I’ve been deep cleaning my way through the house, wiping down every drawer, cupboard and wall along the way. I’ve been purging a ton as I go, which always has a way of making me feel so much lighter. I’m hoping I can make my way through the whole house before I have to head back to start setting up my classroom again in August.
I’ve also started to tackle a few little projects around the house that have been just patiently waiting for me until I had the time and energy to take them on. I’ve officially finished painting out all of the new trim and doors around our second floor and I’m currently trying to decide on a colour to go with for our basement so I can start on painting that all out too (our basement is the only space I haven’t yet painted since moving in). I’ve also replaced a few of the pillows and rugs around the house – it’s amazing what a difference that has made to making our rooms feel fresh and new all over again!
I have a long list of things I’m hoping to get done while I’ve got some extra time this summer, but I’m also trying to slow down and soak up these slow summer days as much as I can – they’ll be gone before we know it!
I have SO much more to catch you up with, planning to share more in the weeks to come. For now, here are some of my favourite reads from the last few months.
