Sharing a quick little catch up and my favourite reads from the week.

Happy Friday my friends! How was your week? Ours seemed to just fly by – it was our first week back to the daily routines of school and work around here, so I suppose that’s to be expected. I think all three of us spent most of the week feeling utterly exhausted as we tried our best to catch back up with the busyness of everyday life (some of us struggled more than others admittedly).
While it’s been a bit of an uphill battle this week getting back into the swing of things after all of the fun and excitement of the holidays, we’ve also jumped back into some really exciting projects around the house. The boys have been hard at work for weeks now building their outdoor rink out back and, after SO many hours of hard work, I’m so excited to see that finish line in sight. The ice is officially in and all that’s left to do now is smooth out all fo the little bumps and ridges. Brady’s been building his own little zamboni to keep the ice surface smooth – I can’t wait to see how it works!
While the boys have been working to get the rink finished up, I’ve been working on the plans for our first renovation project of 2023, the first in this new/old house of ours. I’ve shared more than once how overwhelmed I’ve felt with our renovations this time around, the paralyzing pressure I’ve been feeling to make this home we love so much absolutely perfect (all self-induced I should add). But, as unclear as I am with my vision for things, I’m also very eager to get on with the renovations, if only to have some finished spaces to enjoy. My sister-in-law, Emily (you can check out her beautiful Instagram account here), has been a HUGE asset in helping me to rework the layout upstairs and, while she was here visiting through the holidays, we had a chance to chat through all sorts of ideas and possibilities, as well as a few of the things I was getting hung up on. It was only an hour or so, but talking things through with her in real time, while walking through each space, made a world of difference for me. It really shed a light on what had me feeling stuck and, while I’m still not entirely sure about my vision for it all, I am definitely feeling more ready to get the ball rolling at least. I’m hoping the rest will come to me along the way. We’re just working on finalizing the layout for our primary bedroom, closet, ensuite, and Carson’s room now, but I’m hoping we’ll be able to start on construction by the end of the month. #fingerscrossed
On the blog this week…

And now, here are my favourite reads from the week…
My favourite reads from the week…
2023 trend predictions are everywhere right now. While I don’t think trends should guide design entirely, I do think it’s important to consider where things might be heading. Here are a few of my favourite takes on the “trends” we’ll see through the year ahead:
Also, these paint colour trend predictions are so fun!
Looking for some simple ways to refresh your home for 2023? Here are some brilliant ideas.
And let’s not forget the 2022 design trends we loved.

Such a thorough walk through how to design a living room.
Beige is back? I have to say, it never really left for me – I’ve never been much of a grey girl.
Of course, white will always be a classic choice too. If you’re looking for the perfect white paint colour, here’s a great place to start.

I cannot wait to bake up this maple banana bread with cinnamon spice butter.
Love these cozy ideas to help decorate your home after the holidays.
Here’s the Instagram account I just can’t get enough of this week.

Finally, here’s the book I’ve been curling up with this week (my third of 2023 already!).
Wishing you the most lovely weekend! Let me know if you have any fun plans in the comments below!
