SHARING A QUICK UPDATE ON LIFE CURRENTLY.
October already!!! Can you even believe it?! September seemed to fly by in such a blur, if I didn’t have a Thanksgiving dinner to cook up this past weekend, I’d swear we still had a few weeks to go before October rolled in. Even the weather outside is still giving all the early Fall feels.
Things have been pretty busy around here lately with Carson and I back to school (C in grade four and me teaching first grade) and all of the extra-curricular activities starting up once again (just piano and hockey for now, but ski season is right around the corner). But, I can ever-so-slowly feel ourselves settling into the new routines and life is starting to feel a little less overwhelming once again (thank goodness!).
This past weekend, we celebrated Thanksgiving with our family. I know that feels early to many of you, but here in Canada, Thanksgiving always falls in early October – it always feels like a perfect way to settle into Fall before the holiday season starts to creep in.
Though we weren’t able to have any big gatherings with family & friends this year, we did enjoy a lovely outdoor visit with some of my extended family around the fire, complete with hot dogs and three different kinds of Thanksgiving pie (pecan pie may just be my new fave). It was a perfect way to kick off our Thanksgiving weekend and catch up with some family we hadn’t seen for far too long.
I also cooked up a turkey dinner for our little family here on Sunday. It was much smaller and simpler than our usual feast, but I was sure to cook up all of our favourites: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes & gravy, sweet potato casserole and my Grandma’s carrot casserole. I’m so glad I carved out the time to cook up a big meal, even if it does mean we’ll be eating turkey for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the next week.
Whether you gathered with family & friends or kept things small and simple like us, I hope all of my fellow Canadian friends had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!
And now, here’s a quick little update of where we are currently…
Reading: I haven’t had a whole lot of time for reading lately, but here’s what’s on my nightstand right now.
Writing: A very ambitious schedule of projects I’d love to share this month. Here’s hoping we actually find some time to tackle a few of them.
Creating: A mood board for a quick little entryway update. Here’s hoping I have some plans to share here soon!
Loving: This yummy Fall candle might just be my favourite ever!
On my wish list: I’ve been shopping for a new dining table for ages now and this one is quickly moving to the top of my wish list. I think it would look amazing with some white upholstered chairs at either end.
Working for me right now: Collecting all sorts of Fall baking inspiration…
What’s not: I’ve had the best of intentions to start working on some projects around home, but it seems I’ve been plagued by more ideas than time lately. Here’s hoping things settle down soon so we can start tackling some house projects again!
Anticipating: Cozy Fall days. Sweater season. Cute boots and cozy shirt jackets. Walking through leaf covered trails. Curling up with a book in front of the fire. And all things pumpkin spice.
I’d LOVE to hear where are you currently! Let me know what’s new and exciting in the comments below.
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day my friends!
