Welcome to July my friends! Can you believe it?! JULY!!!
We’ve had a ton going on these last few weeks and I can’t wait to fill you in!
On the blog this month I continued to share projects from our Boy Bedroom Makeover including our DIY Upholstered Wingback Headboard and this IKEA Shelf Wrapped with Wood.
I was also SO excited to give you a glimpse at our lives behind the blog.
While the posts continued to flow on the blog, behind the scenes I was running around like a crazy woman just trying to keep up with life. I started teaching full time (just for the month of June thankfully) and, though it was a ton of fun to be back in the classroom, walking into a grade one classroom at the end of the school year was chaotic to say the least. I quickly learned how difficult it is to find a balance between my work life and my home life and I discovered that I’m definitely not ready to head back to working more than just a few days a week any time soon.
Though we had A LOT going on this month, there’s no question that my very favorite part was celebrating the marriage of my very best friend! She is honestly the most beautiful person inside and out and I was so honored to stand beside her on her special day!
June is always a fun month around here … the sun is shining, flowers are blooming, the energy and atmosphere around town is just so happy! And somewhere near the end of it all, without really noticing it, I turned 31. I don’t really feel any older or wiser, but I’m sure, eventually, it’s bound to happen!
After a very busy June, I have to say, we are looking forward to at least a few lazy days of Summer through the month to come!
Here’s a quick update of where I am currently …

Reading: After devouring The Girl on the Train and The Husband’s Secret, I’m just starting Orphan Train. Here’s hoping it lives up to all of the hype!
Writing: Now that school is over and I’ve actually got some time to work on the blog a bit, I’m hoping to put together a few special things for my newsletter subscribers! Watch your inboxes friends!
Watching: Getting hooked on Big Brother already!
Listening to: This has become the anthem of my BFF’s wedding (at least in my head) – Shut up and Dance with Me by Walk the Moon and it’s catchy tune has been stuck in my head ever since!
Needing: Just a few more hours in the day (please!).
Creating: Hubs and I are working on some plans for our latest reno project! We’re taking on the front porch and couldn’t be more excited to create a cozy and welcoming space!
Learning: How tidying up my home can set me up for success in all areas of my life (I knew it!).
Planning: Some super fun Summer trips including all of my faves: camping, mountain biking, hiking and maaaaaybe even a few wineries along the way! And I might even schedule in a few lazy Summer days so we don’t miss out on any of those too!
Loving: Summer Vacation!!! Even just a few days in, it’s been pretty awesome!
Dreaming about: Long Summer days, hanging at the beach and a ton of outdoor adventures with our friends and family!
Wearing: I’ve decided that airy dresses like this and this are the perfect go-to Summer outfit!
Coveting: These amazing dishes!!!
Working for me right now: These long, warm days of Summer have me feeling energized and motivated to take on the world!
What’s not: 5-6 hours of sleep a night 🙁 I’m very quickly learning that this is not the way to get it all done!
Anticipating: Our road trip to Campbell River, BC and the friends we’ll get to see when we get there!
Now, I’d LOVE to hear where are you currently? What’s new and exciting?
Wishing you SUCH a lovely week!
PS. You can find me sharing here and Savvy Southern Style.
It sounds like you currently have a lit of amazing things going on in your life 🙂 I wish I could make 5-6 hours of skeep a night work for me because I feel like I desperately need a few extra hours in my days but it never works. So I guess I’m just going to have to get better at managing my minutes.
Thanks Rose! Yes, lots of great things to look forward to this month for sure! I know just what you mean about needing more hours in your days – I actually read something recently about how we are all given the same amount of hours in a day and that it’s all in how we use it. Something I need to work on 😉
I think at least 6 more hours in a day is necessary. 3 extra hours of sleep and 3 extra hours of play. Loving everything you’ve shared currently!
YES!!! That sounds like the perfect solution to me!!! Thank you Corinna!
Kristi, I know first hand how crazy busy your June was! And yes, 4 more hours in the day would be perfect! I hope July crawls by for us! Happy relaxing, friend! And yes, we have to have a email-catch up soon!
I was thinking of you so much through that crazy time! I don’t know how you do it girl! Here’s to a relaxing July my friend!
Your summer trips sound fabulous!!
I am with you on the sleep. I am currently getting 6 hours or so most nights and it’s just not cutting it! One of my July goals is to FINALLY get a handle on getting more sleep! I have always had the mentality that sleep is a waste of time…although I am learning that is not true.
Thank you Emily! I feel the very same way about sleep – I’ve always considered it a waste of time, even though we all know that’s not really true 😉 Here’s hoping we can figure out a way to do it all!
Hi Kristi,
Cute post I like the idea of getting to know this way! Thank you so much for linking up to Merry Monday this week! I am sharing your post today on my G+! We hope to see you next week for another great party! Have a great week!
Best,
Kim
Awwww, well thank you SO much Kim! I love writing these posts, such a fun way to take a snapshot in time!
And I can’t write today ,lol! Getting to know you this way is what I meant!
have a great week!
Kim
I didn’t even notice until you pointed it out 😉
I definitely understand not getting enough sleep – I just had a baby 5 weeks ago and she’s been keeping me up QUITE a bit. I like that you do these little status updates, it’s fun to hear!
Thank you Sam! How exciting for you! I remember those first few months like they were just yesterday – I’ve never felt so sleep deprived in my life!!! Just keep reminding yourself that it will pass 🙂 Good luck Mama!
I am jealous of your time off. I work a full time job with the State of Iowa. 8 – 4:30 Mon – Fri. I find it difficult to get in as many blog posts as I really want to write and all of the upkeep on the blog that goes along with it. There are never enough hours in the weekends to get it all done so evenings are taken as well. I am trying to enjoy the nice weather while we have it. Getting outside is a MUST!
Enjoy your travels!
Thanks Michelle! It is definitely not an easy balance, especially when working full time! Here’s to enjoying the warm weather while we’ve got it!!!
Wow Kristi, life for you seems busy but full of great things! Thank you so much for sharing this on Making Memories Mondays! Hope to see you back Sun night 9PM EST! 🙂
Cathy
Yes Cathy, it never really seems to slow down much 😉 Thanks so much!
Wow…..you are a busy lady! But how exciting things are for you. I’m really looking forward to watching your front porch project unfold.
Have a wonderful day!
Kathleen
Thank you SO much Kathleen! Definitely busy with no signs of stopping – hoping to knock out a few big porch projects soon!!!
