SHARING A QUICK UPDATE ON ALL THINGS CURRENTLY…
I can’t even believe we’re rolling into March 2021 already! It feels like I was packing up the Christmas decor just the other day. We had a pretty cold February around here, which kept us huddled up inside for weeks on end, luckily March has brought some sunny, Spring-like days to make up for it though. We’ve been finding all sorts of ways to get outside to enjoy it (those warm, sunny days are impossible to resist), which also means we haven’t been made a ton of progress on any projects inside the house these past couple of weeks. I’m hoping to make up for that this weekend though, finally getting some paint up on the walls – we’re going with a pretty bold colour (you can see what Carson chose here) and I’m SO excited to see how it transforms this bland and boring space!
In the mean time, here’s a quick little update of where we are currently…
CURRENTLY
Reading: At the top of my reading list this past month was this amazing book. It was heart-braking, inspiring and so incredibly infuriating all at the same time and it taught me so much that I didn’t even know that I needed to know. I honestly can’t recommend it enough.
I also really enjoyed this brilliant historical fiction and this riveting love story told over generations.
Writing: Putting together a quick little update of our latest room reno project. Progress has been so slooooow, but I’m hoping to have some fun photos to share next week!
Watching: We’ve been watching an episode of The Mandalorian (on Disney+) most nights after dinner. Well, technically Carson and Brady have been watching it will I curl up with my book beside them – ha! But, I have to say it’s been really fun to have a show that we can all snuggle in front of together.
Listening to: I’ve been spending a lot of hours working in Carson’s new bedroom space, which has given me a lot of hours to catch up with some of my favourite podcasts. These two are my go-to’s:
The Inner Circle with Carrie Doll
Needing: I dug out my old x-country skis this week for the first time in six years. Six years! I haven’t put them on since moving from our little mountain town back to Alberta. I toured around our local golf course, enjoying the sunshine, warm weather and beautiful views of the river and it reminded me how energizing and invigorating being out in nature can be. Sure I’ve been out for lots of walks, hikes and runs through the snowy forest and it’s always so wonderful, but it sure felt great to find another fun way to enjoy the great outdoors (especially through these winter months). All this to say, I think what I’m really needing right now is more time outside in the sunshine.
Creating: I’m still plugging away at our family photo albums. I managed to get our 2020 album all finished up last month and I’m currently working on one for 2019. Just 7 more to go now!
Planning: Aside from C’s new bedroom, I’ve got a few more little house updates in the works at the moment too. Nothing too major, but just a few little changes that I’ve been meaning to tackle for ages now. Can’t wait to share more.
Loving: The amazing Spring-like weather we’ve been having!
Wearing: I’ve been living in these leggings and this cozy sweater. It’s been my work-from-home, walk-the-dog, school-pickup, and everything in between uniform.
On my wish list: I’d love to add some cafe curtains to the windows in our kitchen!
Working for me right now: Spending our evenings all cozied up in the basement together.
What’s not: Planning out the landscaping for our backyard. After digging most of it up last Summer to run utilities to our future garage, it’s going to take a ton of planning and work to get it all back to a usable state again. Brady and I have been talking it through all Winter and we’ve come up with a few ideas that we’d like to work in, but landscaping is definitely out of our wheelhouse and we’re struggling to come up with any sort of concrete plans. Hoping we can nail down some plans this month so we’ll be ready to get going with things once Spring rolls in.
Anticipating: We’re taking off to Jasper for a ski trip with our family and I think we’re all looking forward to some outdoor fun and adventure together!
I’d LOVE to hear where are you currently!
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day my friends!
