Catching up with all things currently.
It seems fitting to start this post off with a photo of our latest project, don’t you think? Painting out these cabinets introduced the perfect mix of modern and traditional into this little corner. It’s truly elevated the whole feel of our living room space and ties in so perfectly with all of the other black accents we’ve introduced throughout our kitchen and living room (like our updated doors and the new curtain hardware in our dining room). It was such a simple little project, but it feels like it’s made a world of difference in this space!
Speaking of projects, we’re still slowly chipping away at the study over here (between trips to the mountains, a few other house projects and of course enjoying our last week of Summer vacation!). Last weekend we worked on getting the drywall and mantel back up on the fireplace, next up will be painting the old brass and laying the new tile surround. I’ve also started ordering up some of the furniture too – with lead times of 8-10 weeks for most pieces, I figured I should probably get that ball rolling too.
We’ve got a lot of exciting things coming up around here through the month ahead… a new school for Carson, more progress in the study, a new room to renovate (read more about that here), and right in the middle of it all, I’ll be running a half marathon through the Rocky Mountains (super excited about this!). September is shaping up to be pretty darn exciting around here!
Read on for a quick little update of where we are currently…
Reading: The longest book I’ve read in a while, but so far I’m really enjoying it.
Writing: Last month I started a weekly email newsletter. Each Tuesday I’ve been sharing a little more behind the scenes – think favourite new finds, recipes I’ve tried & loved, books I couldn’t put down, behind the scenes house updates and a whole lot of sneak peeks. These little newsletters have been short & sweet, but filled to the brim with exclusive content you won’t see anywhere else! Have you signed up yet?
Needing: The air is growing crisp, the leaves are already starting to change around here and, while it may feel a bit early yet, I’m definitely feeling to itch to pull out some Fall decor. I think I may start by scattering a few of these cute little felt pumpkins around the house.
Creating: I’ve been obsessed with organizing our pantry this past week as we gear up for the busy Fall and Winter ahead. I’ve been swapping out all of our bags and boxes for these brilliant little containers and everything I can’t pour into a canister has been organized into baskets & bins. Not only has it made everything look tidier, but it’s been so much easier to find what we need without having to dig around. Plus, we’ve cleared out so many half-full boxes and bags, we’ve found ourselves with a ton of free shelf space now!
Set of 4 Pantry Organizer Bins | Large Canister Set with Scoops | Baking Container Set with Labels | 20 Piece Container Set | Set of 3 Cereal Dispensers | Set of 4 Storage Bins with Dividers | Set of 2 Wicker Baskets
To Do: To order up the rest of the furniture for our study. So far, all we’ve managed to order is our sofa – we’ve still got to order the arm chair to sit beside it as well as a new desk. I think I’ve landed on this gorgeous oak desk, but I’m still waffling between this chair and this chair to sit beside our fireplace. You can read more about our plans for the study here if you missed them.
Wearing: With the weather starting to cool off, I’ve officially dug out all of my shirt jackets. They’ve long been my go-to staple for Fall. If you’re on the hunt for one of your own, this corduroy version is super cute!
On my wish list: I LOVE the shape of this lamp (and the matching shade)! Wouldn’t it look so perfect in our living room?!
Coming to the blog this month: Fall decor finds, painting hacks, and a possible One Room Challenge makeover!
Working for me right now: With each decision we make for the house, I’m feeling more and more encouraged that we’re finally on the right track.
What’s not: While I’m excited for C to embark on another new year of education and in a new school to boot (complete with his first ever locker!), I’m super sad that another Summer together has come to an end.
Anticipating: Seeing our study design finally come to life!
I’d LOVE to hear where are you currently! Let me know what’s new and exciting in the comments below.
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day my friends!
