Well Hello October! I’m SO happy you’re here!
With it’s crisp, cool mornings, warm afternoons & beautiful colours everywhere – Fall is my absolute favourite!
BIG things have been brewing on all fronts this month! Big, exciting, incredible things that I cannot wait to share …
Our sweet little man started preschool this year, so we’ve been enjoying the piles of leaves on our walks to school two mornings a week. We’ve also had to dig out our scarves, toques and boots, but there’s something so cozy about bundling up, coffee in hand, for our walks.
I’ll be running in another 1/2 marathon this weekend (actually, by the time this post goes live, I’ll have just finished!). Our crazy busy life has made training really difficult, but the mountains are calling and I’m ready to take this thing on!
Back to school time always has me itching to get organized, but this year has been something else entirely! I’ve been working my way through the entire house decluttering and tidying once and for all with the help of this brilliant book and an amazing group of bloggy friends! Read all about my journey here!
I was SO excited to take part in the first ever Kids Room Design Challenge hosted by Itsums! Check out the Vintage Boy Nursery Design I came up with and enter for a chance to win a $150 Pottery Barn Kids gift card!
My very favourite project from last month would have to be this Vintage Desk Makeover. Not only did I share the makeover, but I chatted all about the story behind this gorgeous desk and why it means so much to our family!
Perhaps the biggest news of all is that we’ve signed on to take part in the One Room Challenge again this Fall (are we nuts?)! You may remember that we completely transformed Carson’s bedroom in the Spring in just six weeks – now we’re ready to do it all again, though you’ll have to wait to find out which room we’ll be taking on this time around. The challenge starts October 8th!
And now, here’s a quick update of where I am currently …

Reading: On my night table right now are The Secret Keeper by Kate Morton and The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up from Marie Kondo – LOVING them both so far!
Writing: Just finished putting together my first One Room Challenge post! I can’t say that I’m thrilled to be sharing those awful “before” photos for all to see – here’s hoping the “afters” make it all worth it!
Watching: I’ve been catching up on one of my all time faves – Friends! I can’t help but feel nostalgic watching it!
Listening to: Brady and I are back to being obsessed with The Rural Alberta Advantage. Their tunes are so laid back & catchy and it’s so fun to hear songs about places we actually know!
Needing: Some pretty baskets for organizing our kitchen, a cozy sweater like this to warm up with & this new book!
Creating: As I mentioned, we are taking part in the One Room Challenge again and I’m already feeling the crunch just trying to get ready for it all. Making over an entire room from top to bottom in just six weeks is a total whirlwind, but I cannot wait to see how it all turns out!!!
Learning: How tidying up my home can set me up for success in all areas of my life (I knew it!). See how my journey is unfolding here.
Planning: House renovations, Halloween costumes and Christmas shopping – a little bit of everything these days.
Loving: Sipping tea by the fire after a chilly walk to school with Carson. This one is one of my very favourites, but I can’t wait to try this Fall Collection too!
Dreaming about: The cool, crisp air has me dreaming of all things Fall!
Wearing: Leggings, sweaters & boots … all my faves!
Coveting: This classically gorgeous dish set (still)!
Working for me right now: Decluttering my house! Have I mentioned how much I like neat & tidy?!
What’s not: Finding the time to do it ALL! Why do we need so much sleep anyway?
Anticipating: Life slowing down a bit as Fall rolls it’s way in. Ahhhhhhhh. Taking on the One Room Challenge!!! Eeeeeek!
I’d LOVE to hear where are you currently? What’s new and exciting?

Now please excuse me while I curl up in front of the fire with my morning coffee…
Wishing you SUCH a lovely week!

I’m jealous of your Fall leaves and sweater weather! October is still one of my favorite months, even if I have to pretend it’s Fall here in Florida.
Hahaha! I’m going to enjoy it while I can because snow will be flying and the air will be much too cold to enjoy it all soon! 😉
Congrats on your 1/2 marathon!! Such an accomplishment. And mad props to you for taking on the one room challenge again! I really wanted to participate but there’s just too much going on. Can’t wait to follow along!
Thank you Bre! I barely made it through, but I did it and I’m already excited to run another soon! And I’m quite sure I’m nuts to sign on to take part in the ORC again, but it’ll be so worth it to see it DONE! xo
Whew! You are making me tired. Can’t wait to see your room you are doing for the One Room Challenge. I enjoyed following along on Carson’s room. Congratulations on your 1/2 marathon. And the decluttering! Both huge accomplishments. Isn’t it just like fall to want to cozy up and get in order before the rush of the holidays?
Yes Peggy, that’s exactly it! It feels great to get everything settled before the holidays roll in! And thank you so much for your sweet words! I cannot wait to get started on things!!!
I gave 17 bags of clothes, shoes, kitchenware, and totes to our mission here in town today.. It felt good and my house is less cluttered. I still have lots to go but am feeling better already. Congrats on the run. It never seems to get easier.
17 bags! That’s SO great Gail!!! It’s an amazing feeling to rid your life of that clutter AND pass it along to someone that might need it more or find some happiness in it! Thanks so much!
I like the way you broke your life in what you are doing. I am busy with my job and looking for a different one as well as blogging at home.
Thanks Gail! Sounds like you are very busy too! Good luck with your job hunt!!!
And here I thought I was the only one all over the place, lol. Thanks for linking up with Thursday Favorite Things!
Ha! I know we’re not alone! And it’ll only get crazier as the holidays roll in! 😉
Good luck on your half marathon! I am running in my eighth half this weekend! Whew! I might sign up for a full after this, we’ll see!

Ahhhhh! Good luck Carrie! That’s incredible! I can’t wait to do another already and I’ve definitely got a full in the back of my mind too!
Wow! It looks like you have so many wonderful things going on this fall! Good luck with the room challenge. I can’t wait to see it!
Thank you Jennifer! It’s sure to be a whirlwind 😉
You are one busy mama!! Wow, I can’t believe all you have on your plate!
Here from TUT.
Oh man, it’s sure a lot of balls to juggle lately, but at least most of it is bringing me joy 😉 Thanks so much Melinda!
