My favourite reads from the week.

From -50℃ last week to highs above zero through most of this week, it’s pretty crazy how drastically temperatures can change over just a few days! And I’m sure it’s no surprise that we’ve been spending every minute we can outside enjoying it! Sure, it’s made a bit of a mess of the roads and sidewalks around here, but I’ll happily take the muck if it means we get to enjoy this Spring-like weather.
Not only have the warmer temps this week have me heading back outside for a few runs again (I always struggle to find the motivation when it’s cold), but it’s also got me dreaming up all sorts of plans for our yard & garden this year. I cannot wait to get planting!!!
All the extra time outside this week didn’t leave much room for house projects. Aside from the filling and sanding (oh, SO much sanding!) I finished up last weekend, I haven’t made much progress on Carson’s new bedroom. Sanding down all that fill took SO much longer than I’d expected, but I’m hoping I can plug away at caulking the gaps this weekend and maybe even get started on a bit of the painting (though it’ll likely just be the boring ceiling). As you can see in the photos below, there’s A LOT of caulking I still need to do before I can dig out the paint brushes. I’ll be sure to keep you posted on my progress over on Instagram, so keep an eye out there.
Things on the blog were pretty quiet this week too, though I did manage to share some of the closet/ wardrobe inspiration that caught my eye as I was researching what to do with C’s new closet. All of our bedroom closets have a drywall frame instead of wood casing and trim, which makes for some uneven gaps at the top of each door (they drive me absolutely mad). Our closets are also super basic in terms of organization, with just a single shelf and rod. In keeping with our modern cottage theme, I’ve been on the search for ways to make Carson’s closet have more of a built in cabinet sort of look, with a whole lot more organization built inside. The wheels have been turning in my head all week and I think I’ve finally come up with some ideas to turn some of these inspiration photos into our own little built in wardrobe. Brady and I still have to sit down and hash out a proper plan, but I promise to take you along for the ride once we do!
