Looking for inspiration for your reach-in closet? Here are 14 beautiful & practical reach-in closet and wardrobe designs that spark some ideas.
Happy Tuesday friends! I hope you’re having a great start to your week! We’re still plugging away at Carson’s new bedroom space over here. I managed to get all of the nail holes in the new vertical shiplap walls filled and sanded over the weekend. It turned out to be a massive job that I’d totally underestimated (what else is new), but it’s DONE and I’m SO happy to have the mess of all that drywall dust behind me!
This week, I’m hoping to get all of the cracks and seams caulked (along the baseboards and top trim) so that I can maybe pull out some paint cans this weekend. I’ll probably start with the ceiling and top portions of the walls, which means I’ll have to wait to see that beautiful green for a while yet, but I have no doubt it’ll be worth the wait. If you missed our plans for the space, you can find them here. Carson and I worked together to put together the plans for his new bedroom and I think he did such a great job of choosing pieces and design elements that I’m sure he’s going to love for years to come! The one thing he hasn’t been much help with is figuring out his closet design.
Right now, the closet is pretty much a blank slate – a 4ft x 2ft box with a shelf running along the top, but I think it’s got the potential to be so much more. Not only do I want to bring some much needed organization into the mix, but I think this little closet could really be a charming little design feature in this bedroom space as well. I’d love to give it more of that English cottage style built-in wardrobe look, with some custom cabinet doors, beautiful trim work and of course, some shelves (and drawers maybe?) inside. I’ve been scouring Pinterest and Instagram these past couple of weeks, looking for all the built-in closets & wardrobes I could find and I came across all sorts of inspiring photos and tutorials. Today, I thought I’d share a few of our favourites…
Reach-In Closet & Wardrobe Inspiration

As you can see, I’m finding so much inspiration in that modern cottage feel. I love the charm and character that a built-in wardrobe style closet brings. It’s not something you’d see in most houses (around here at least) and I love the idea of bringing that unexpected, custom element into this charming little bedroom. I’m still not quite sure how we can turn our standard reach-in closet into something that has this more built-in wardrobe sort of feel, but the wheels are definitely turning. I’m really hoping Brady and I can hash out a plan to make this built-in closet a reality. Wish us luck!
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day!
I can't wait to hear your thoughts!
