Currently | Life in July 2024
Catching up with all things currently.

June was an absolute whirlwind around here – filled to the brim with fun & adventure, there was a whole lot of special memories made.
Here were some of the highlights:
- Carson’s last days of 6th grade.
- Cheering on our Edmonton Oilers through the Stanley Cup finals!
- The most incredible baking class with family.
- Finishing up drywall and painting the walls in our primary suite and Carson’s new bedroom.
- Lots of visits with family & friends.
- Finished 6 books, catch my reviews of them inย my Insta Stories here.
- Brady surprised me with a trip for my birthday…
- Turning 40 in Montreal!
While we had SO many fun adventures to enjoy last month, the highlight was definitely my surprise trip to Montreal! It was fun to hear about the great lengths that Brady went to to plan everything while keeping it a surprise for me and he was SO thoughtful about every minute of our trip, from planning to bring extra suitcases so that I could pack to my heart’s content (I am not the lightest traveller) to hunting out the best meals, cocktails and shopping to keep us busy once we got there. We explored everywhere from Mont Royal to Old Montreal and everything in between, wandering aimlessly through shops, stopping for food or drinks whenever we found something irresistible along the way. While I love exploring and adventuring, slow wandering has always my favourite way to really soak up a new destination. It really was the perfect trip!

After the adventure that was our whole month of June, we’re ready to settle in for a quieter July around here, enjoying some slow Summer days, probably sneaking in a few paddle board/mountain bike days and of course, putzing away at our renovations upstairs in between all the fun.
Read on for a quick little update of where we are currently…
CURRENTLY
Reading:ย This book has been the best I’ve read in a while – SO good!
Writing: All the to-do lists – renovation tasks, the many things I still need to order for our new bedroom and closet and all of the projects I’d like to work on through the Summer.
Needing: Still need to choose a rug for our bedroom โ which do love more?ย Neutralย orย colourful?
Creating: Some design plans for Carson’s new bedroom. Hoping I’ll have some ideas to share here soon!
Loving: A quiet morning coffee on our back deck.
To Do: Still chipping away at our second floor renovations. With all of the drywall hung, weโre hiring out the mudding and taping so that we can get the ensuite bathroom prepped for tile (see our design plans for our ensuite here).
Wearing: This sweatshirt has been perfect for cooler days and summer evenings – I love that it’s just enough to keep me warm, but still lightweight enough for summer.
On my wish list: I thinkย this arched floor mirrorย would look so perfect in our new bedroom.
Planning: With two more half marathons to run this summer, I’ve been working on putting together a training plan for my runs. Hoping to work more on my speed now that I’ve got that longer distance under my belt again.
Working for me right now:ย This brilliant watchย has been keeping track of my water intake, sleep scores (it tracks my sleep cycles all night long) and even my stress levels. Itโs been the best motivator to get my steps in and I love how comprehensively it keeps track of my health habits.
Whatโs not:ย We haven’t been making much progress on our renovations these past few weeks. Hoping to get back into the swing of things around here this week! ๐ค๐ป
Anticipating:ย Some long, slow summer days ahead. Nothing sounds better to me right now than sitting on the back deck with a cold drink and a good book. Maybe a paddle board, that sounds pretty lovely too.
Iโd LOVE to hear where are you currently! Let me know what’s new and exciting in the comments below.
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day my friends!
