Quick + Easy Project List | Summer 2024

Sharing a list of all of the quick + easy projects I’m hoping to tackle around the house this Summer.

Since moving into this new/old house of ours almost two years ago now, I’ve kept a running list of quick + easy projects I’d like to tackle around the house – simple things that are relatively easy and inexpensive, but that have a big impact on the way we live in and enjoy our home.

Before I dive into the long list of things I’d like to tackle before Spring rolls in, let’s check in with our progress (or lack there of) on our last Project List:

WINTER PROJECT LIST

✔ ONE: Paint the brass fireplace surrounds. DONE! And it looks SO much better!

𝗫 TWO: Paint the Living Room floors – we ordered new hardwoods for this space instead.

𝗫 THREE: Paint the inside of all of the closets through our main floor – I’ll get around to this eventually.

𝗫 FOUR: Organize our main floor closets – I’m going to call this half done. While I didn’t add any new shelves or organization per say, I did purge what we no longer needed and rearranged things to work better for our family.

𝗫 FIVE: Paint the interior of our Pantry – we got sidetracked with the second floor reno, but this is still on my to-do list.

𝗫 SIX: Organize the Pantry – also still on my to-do list.

Quick + Easy Summer Project List

ONE: Paint the stair railing.

I’ve been debating this one for more than a year now, but, after seeing our new carpet installed, I’m feeling more sure about painting out our stair railing. I considered four different colours (you can see them all below), but in the end I think I’ve decided on Natural Cream from Benjamin Moore – I love that it’ll bring in some contrast without making things feel to dark.

TWO: Hang some lights in our laundry/mudroom.

After nearly a year of searching for the perfect lights for these spaces, I’ve finally ordered some up! I went with this light (in the ORB finish) for the laundry/mudroom space and then this smaller version (also in the ORB finish) for the attached hallway leading to the rest of our home. They’re currently en-route and I cannot wait to get them installed!

THREE: Paint the laundry cabinets.

I’ve been talking about this for ages now, but I’d love to get our laundry cabinets all painted out to match the trim in our laundry room (colour is Briarwood from Benjamin Moore).

FOUR: Paint the fence.

Last year, Carson and I painted the front sections of our fence to match all of our exterior doors, including the garage (colour is Briarwood from Benjamin Moore). It made such a difference that I’d like to continue along with side fences this year too. C was such a big help, I’ll be saving this project to do with him over his Summer break. 😉

FIVE: Repair & paint the deck.

Honestly, this entire deck needs a rebuild, but, since we’ve got bigger fish to fry (including renovating the rest of our house), it’s going to have to wait. In the meantime though, we’ve talked about replacing all of the rotten boards, sanding down the rest and giving it all a fresh coat of paint. I’m hoping this “quick” fix will buy us a few more years with this old deck before we have to replace it completely.

BONUS: We’d love to fix up that bit of our sidewalk that’s sinking down in front of our steps. It makes that first step a pretty big one to take. Thankfully it’s all made out of pavers, which means we can just pull up the sunken rows, build up the base underneath and then reinstall. We just need to find the time to do it. I’d say the other tasks on this list are a bigger priority for us at the moment, as is our second floor renovation, so this one may or may not happen this year.

I think that should do it for now. I mean, I have a ton more ideas rolling around my head, but I’m trying to balance all of the inside jobs we’ve got on the go already (hello second floor renovation) with the all of outside work that needs to be done before the snow comes again. Do you have any projects planned through the months ahead? I’d love to hear about them in the comments below!

Wishing you SUCH a lovely day my friends!
