My favourite reads from the week.

Whew! I can’t even believe it’s Friday already! It’s been a week around here my friends – between finishing up a few things around the house and spending the rest of our free time soaking up the sunshine outside, this week has sure been full of adventure.
The sunshine and warm temperatures had us all wanting to get outside every chance we could get. We haven’t really gotten around to much work outside just yet, but I have managed some bike rides, a few runs and even a couple of spin classes outdoors this week. The boys even made it out to Jasper last weekend for a a couple of days of skiing and golfing (they were SO excited to be able to do both in the same day!)
Of course, I took advantage of having the house to myself all weekend and knocked out all sorts of work that I’d been meaning to do for a while now. Not only did I get Carson’s old bedroom painted (including 2 coats on the ceiling and 3 on the walls to cover up that deep green), but in between coats I worked my way through a few loads of laundry stripping too. Have you tried it? You can find the instructions I followed here. I soaked all of our towels, my gym clothes and our whites and couldn’t believe how much dirt & extra build-up I pulled out of our “clean” laundry (just look at that water)! It was SO gross!!!

The biggest news around the Mercer house last week was hands down celebrating this sweet kiddo turning 9! I don’t even know how that happened! I swear he was 5 just a few months ago and now here he is, celebrating his last birthday in the single digits. With our province stilly under some pretty strict restrictions, we weren’t able to plan anything too big to celebrate, but we did our best to fill the day with some of his favourites: a morning scooter ride, Subway (for breakfast & lunch), a bit of golf after school and then dinner and cake with his cousins.
With ski season behind us and even more COVID restrictions moving in, I’m thinking we’ll have some productive weekends ahead as we settle in at home through the next few weeks. Brady’s been working hard on the plans for the new garage build and we’re really hoping we’ll be ready to start work with that in another few weeks. In the mean time, I’m hoping to finish up all of the little projects we’ve got on the go around the house like C’s old bedroom (which will be our new bunk bed room), our old office space (which is becoming another guest room) and a couple of outdoor projects that we weren’t able to complete before the snow rolled in last Fall, like our gazebo roof and the deck skirting. Honestly, that’s probably far too much to actually get through, but a girl can hope!
Of course, I’m also still deep into Spring cleaning around here too – I’ve managed to clean every inch of most of our main floor (ceiling to floor and every cupboard and wall in between). The forecast is calling for rain all weekend, so I’m thinking it might be a good time to take on the old office and the guest bathroom.
And now, before I get started with any work around here, here are my favourite reads from the week…
