A quick little update & my favourite reads from the week.
It’s been an exciting week around here my friends! If you’ve been following along with our stories over on Instagram you’ll already know that we had a bit of flooring replaced around here this week. While we had no doubt that changing up the flooring in these spaces was going to make a difference, we were all surprised by just how much of a difference installing these new floors made to the look, feel and functionality of each space.
Our old stairs not only looked mismatched and dated, they were SO awful to walk down. Spiral staircases inherently have less surface area to walk on (particularly on the inside edge of the spiral) and the stone risers the old owners had installed ate up even more of the tread space. On top of that, the vinyl was slippery and the nosing stuck up just enough to dig right into your foot as you walked. The entire thing was just a bad idea all around and poor Charley (our sweet dog) had the hardest time of all walking down them. I’ve never been a fan of hard surfaces on stairs – I realize it’s possible for a person to slip and fall on them no matter what material is used, but I’ve always feared that possibility went up exponentially with a harder, more slippery surface. So, when we started talking about changing things up, it was a no-brainer for me to opt for carpet on these stairs. I’ll share all the details with a more in-depth post soon, but in the mean time, I couldn’t help but share a few sneak peeks!
It may have taken us more than a year and half to finally get this awful flooring changed out out, but oh my goodness, it was SO worth the wait! I can’t wait to share more about it soon, but in the mean time, if you’re curious to see the difference it made in our Study, pop on over to our latest Instagram post.
