SHARING MY FAVOURITE READS FROM THE WEEK
Friday already?! Or maybe “Friday at last” is a better way to put it. Either way, I hope your week has been wonderful!
We’ve had another busy one around here, with lots of renovation progress to share this week. Brady’s been working away on the back deck these past couple of weeks, hoping to get the base built before Winter rolls in. He made a ton of progress last weekend, getting all the framing in – there are still a few 100 more screws to go into those joist hangers, but here’s hoping we can start installing the cedar deck boards this weekend. #fingerscrossed
This week also saw our basement transform from a construction zone to a cozy, almost finished space with the addition of our new carpet. I still can’t believe how different it feels down here now! There’s still quite a few things to finish up down here (like the railing, wet bar, powder room and some sort of cover for our electrical panel), but they’ll have to wait until we get things wrapped up in the backyard for now. The end is in sight my friends!
Speaking of the backyard (as if we didn’t already have enough on the go out there), we pulled the trigger this week on another exciting project that we’ve been talking about for years now – we ordered ourselves a hot tub last weekend and we’re all just bursting with excitement about it! Now, not only do we need to create a spot to put it, but Brady’s got some big plans to build out a gazebo over the entire area to keep it sheltered from the rain and snow (who wants to have to shovel off a hot tub before they can climb in?). Not sure how far we’ll actually get with all all of this considering the many other projects we have on the go at the moment, but I do know we’ll be spending our weekend doing some landscaping and prep work so that we can have the concrete pad poured for it next week. #wishusluck #weregoingtoneedit
Between working on the deck and prepping the yard for a new concrete pad, we’ve got our work cut out for us. Though the temperatures are looking to be on the cooler side (highs below zero all weekend!), at least there’s no snow in the forecast I guess (I sure hope I didn’t just jinx that!).
