A collection of bedroom wall paneling ideas with modern cottage style.
Yesterday, I revealed our first renovation project of 2021 – creating a brand new bedroom space for Carson. We’ve been playing a game of musical rooms around the house since finishing our basement in December, but I think we’ve finally figured out what needs to go where and the general consensus seems to be that Carson’s bedroom needs to move (it’s a bit of a long story, you can read more about it here). Though this little bedroom switch will be a bit more work than I’d originally planned, it will the perfect opportunity for the redesign of his bedroom that has been swirling around my head these past few months anyway (it’s on our renovation wish list for this year).

Right now, with its beige walls and white trim, this room is basically a total blank slate. But, I’ve got a few ideas up my sleeve that I think will bring a whole lot more personality and character to this space. Picture deep grey-green walls, warm woods and layers of fabrics in plaids and stripes. A cozy modern cottage sort of feel. I’m still working out most of the design details, but I’m hoping to share more, including a mood board next week (for now, you can see what I’ve been pinning for inspiration here).
One thing I do know, we’ll be kicking things off by adding some wainscoting all around the space. Brady’s actually heading into the city tomorrow to pick up all of the supplies, so I spent my day today gathering inspiration and narrowing down my options and I thought I’d share a few of my favourites with you today. Scroll through to read more about the three wall paneling options we’re considering.
BEADBOARD PANELING

BOARD & BATTEN MOULDING

VERTICAL PANELING

We want to add a wall treatment that will bring some charm & character into this space, but nothing too formal or stuffy. Something cozy & casual that will reflect Carson’s personality and I really think all three of these options would fit the bill. With so many great choices, I’m having such a hard time deciding, so I think I’ll sleep on things and see which one is speaking to me the most in the morning. Nothing like leaving things to the last minute! We’re hoping to get started on things this weekend, so keep an eye on my Insta-stories to see which one we went with.
Which one is your favourite? Let me know in the comments below.

I like the taller board and batten. It seems to make the room look taller, and reads more cozy and expensive. However, all of them are so beautiful.
I totally agree Shayna! The taller wall treatments definitely feel cozier to me too! Thanks so much!
Whatโs the name of that gorgeous green color?
