Simple decor ideas to create a light + airy farmhouse Spring mantel
Well, heloooooo Spring! I’m just SO happy you’re here!
After more than a month of some of the coldest temperatures we’ve seen all Winter, I’ll tell ya, I couldn’t be happier to see Spring finally rolling in! It seems we’ve been buried under a blanket of white for ages now, and I’m absolutely thrilled to see that warm sunshine melting it all away now!
After 6+ months of Winter here in northern Alberta, there’s always a fresh + energizing feeling that comes with Spring. With the windows open and the sunshine pouring in, I’ve been busy packing away all the Winter layers and pulling out all things light + airy.
Last week, I kicked off the Spring decor posts with this simple farmhouse Spring table setting.
Today, I’m repurposing many of those same elements into my bedroom space to decorate this faux fireplace mantel in our farmhouse master bedroom (watch for that Spring tour coming soon!). And even better, I’m so happy to be taking part in another fabulous Spring blog hop today, hosted by my lovely friend Kendra at Joy in Our Home. If you’re popping over from The Painted Hinge, welcome – if not, be sure to swing back there to catch the pretty Spring decor she’s sharing today! And of course, you can find even more beautiful Spring decorating inspiration linked up at the bottom of this post.
But first, I can’t wait to show you this simple, light + airy farmhouse Spring mantel decor!
A few years ago, we decided to create this simple DIY faux fireplace to add a bit of dimension to this awkward corner of our master bedroom. It really makes this little corner feel so cozy and it quickly became one of my favourite spaces to decorate with each change in season.
In keeping with the light + airy feeling that Spring evokes, I wanted to keep my decor simple – working with light colours, fresh florals and some open space to let it all breathe.
I started with some simple silver candlesticks at either end of my mantel and the most lovely crystal jar candle in the centre.
Then, I added in a collection of bottle vases filled with simple wax flowers and some lovely mercury glass votives accented with white, silver and gold tones. I love that both of these elements can be purchased as a set so I can have that collected look without all the guesswork and hunting around.
Another candlestick collection for the floor in front and a basket of throw blankets to the side, really makes everything feel cozy, yet light.
It’s really just a few simple elements, but they all come together so beautifully to create that light + airy farmhouse feel.
You can see how I put the whole look together in the video below:
