If you’re on the hunt for some primary bedroom design inspiration, you’ve come to the right place!

If you’ve been following along with our journey since moving into this new/old house of ours last August, you’ll know this primary bedroom space has been in the works since day one – mainly because the ensuite bathroom was SO yucky (you can check it out here if you missed it), but also because we want to make sure we’ve got a comfy, cozy space to retreat to as we make our way through the rest of these house renos we’ve got planned.

We’ve had this whole space torn apart since a few weeks after moving in, and there it sat every day since. We’ve finally, finally landed on a layout for this space (along with a brand new walk-in closet to go along with it) and now the fun part begins – creating a design plan and of course, bringing it all to life.
I’ve mentioned a few times now how hard it’s been for us to commit to anything around here (we only just decided on doorknobs last week – our first whole house design decision!). Between the nostalgia and history or this house (catch up with that story here if you missed it) and the fact that we’ve put a lot of pressure on ourselves to really do the character and charm of this house justice, and all while taking some design risks to create a cozier, more collected home – well honestly, it feels like we’ve created a perfect storm of obstacles that have been really challenging for us to work through. It’s all left us feeling a bit stuck.
So, what’s a person to do when they’re feeling stuck in a design paralysis? Well, I’m certainly no design expert, but what’s been helping me push through all the the things that have been holding us back is simply soaking up all of the design inspiration I can get my hands on. And, I’m sure it’s no surprise to anyone that Instagram is almost always the first place I turn. I could easily spend hours scrolling the feeds of some of my favourite go-to designers, soaking up all the inspo! I love to save my favourite spaces to folders so that I can then come back to it all in one easy place. That way, I can scroll through all the inspo images, looking for commonalities, things that stand out and, through that, really hone in on what design elements or feelings I might like to incorporate into my own spaces.
Each month I’ve been sharing a collection of my recent Insta saves (I’ve revisited these light & dark hardwood floors so many times as we choose our own) and this month I couldn’t help but share all of the beautiful bedrooms that have been inspiring our own primary bedroom design. I have no doubt that you’ll find a ton of inspiration through the images below too!
Cozy Primary Bedroom Inspiration

I hope you found as much inspiration in these images as I did! These are some of my very favourite designers and creatives to follow, so be sure to click through to their Instagram accounts to see more and follow along with all of the beautiful images and design inspo they share there!
As you may have noticed through the images I shared today, we’re looking to create a really warm, cozy and collected feeling space. I love the idea of neutral walls as a backdrop, maybe even with some panelling, and then bringing in loads of texture and pattern to create a really rich and warm feeling space. I’m still collecting my thoughts with all of this right now, but I’m hoping to have some design plans to share soon!
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day my friends!

These bedrooms are all beautiful especially the last one with the fireplace. But I find them too dark, especially for the short cold days of winter. I love your light decor.
Thanks Leanna! That’s a great point about the darker days of winter – I hadn’t thought about that!
