Second Floor Renovation Update

While I’ve been sharing tons of sneak peeks over on Instagram, it’s been ages since I shared a proper reno update here on the blog. My last official update here on the blog was all the way back in November – so the progress photos I’m sharing today are pretty wild. I mean, we didn’t even have floors installed in our bedroom yet (it’s hard to believe that was just a few short months ago!) and now, we’re all moved into our bedroom and ensuite. I cannot wait show you what we’ve been up to and where we plan to go from here…

Primary Bedroom

You may have already caught this first peek I shared of our bedroom back in December. This is just as we were moving into it – we didn’t have our new curtains up yet or all of our furniture. While we now have curtains hung over all of the windows, we’re still waiting on our dresser, bedside tables and floor mirror, which seem to be back ordered for all of eternity. We went with these custom curtains in the Safari colour and we’ve been so happy with them! I think the soft beige colour brings so much warmth to the space and really helps to balance out our white walls.

I’d still like to source a cushion for our window bench as well as some sort of bench to sit at the end of our bed, but I haven’t come across anything I love yet and I’m not willing to rush things. There’s something to be said for slow decorating, where you let a space evolve through all the layers and pieces you collect over time. For now, we are so, so thrilled with how this space is coming together!

Ensuite Bathroom

Ah, this little room has been SO much work! From tearing out and rebuilding all of the walls to rerouting all of the electrical and plumbing, I think we (or I probably) really underestimated what recreating this bathroom would take. But oh my goodness, was it ever worth it! I think the only thing we’re still waiting on in here are the cafe curtains (which should be here any day now) and a bit of art for the walls. I’m planning to share a full before and after tour on the blog here soon, but here’s a really good little sneak peek in the mean time. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Primary Closet

This one is currently still a work-in-progress. So far, we’ve got all of the base cabinets built (we went with IKEA Pax) and we’re currently adding our own trim work and drawer fronts to give it more of a custom built-in look. Once Brady’s done with all of the construction work (we’re SO close now!), I’m planning to patch up all of the holes and joints and then slap on some paint. Still undecided on the colour, but I’m thinking a darker beige colour to make it all stand out a bit more (currently loving Mouse’s Back from Farrow and Ball).

Carson’s Bedroom

Aside from hanging Carson’s bedroom door, we’ve made zero progress in here since our last update. In fact, if anything, it looks worse if only because it’s become Brady’s woodworking space. Once we get our closet all finished up, C’s room will be next on our list. Obviously we’ve got some cleaning to do in here, but aside from that, it shouldn’t take too long to get this space finished up (famous last words!). We’re still pulling together a final design plan for this space, but you can get a good idea of the direction we’ll be going here.

Hallway + Guest Room

While we’re laying the new hardwood in Carson’s new bedroom, we’ll also be running it through our hallway and guest bedroom (Carson’s current bedroom) as well. Then, once C is all moved into his new bedroom, we’ll give the guest room a new coat of paint and get it all all set up for our future guests. We’re also planning to replace all of the doors and trim throughout our second floor, which will really help to give everything a fresh new look.

Progress has definitely felt slow at times as we fit these big renovation plans into our already busy lives, but we’re slowly inching closer to that finish line my friends and I’m so happy to be able to take you along for the ride with us!

Wishing you SUCH a lovely day my friends!
