Our 2025 Renovation List
Sharing our renovation plans for the year ahead.

The start of a brand new year always has us dreaming up the possibilities of what lies ahead. And, as a big fan of list making, thereโs little I love more than writing out all of ideas and goals for the year ahead. Putting pen to paper is my favourite way to wrangle in all those thoughts + ideas swirling around our heads โ listing everything out makes it so much easier to see it all in front of us at once, which then allows us to whittle down our list if necessary & prioritize our next steps. It really is the best way to make sure weโre spending our time and money where it matters most through the year ahead.
I love sharing our home goals here on the blog โ itโs not only a fun way to bring you all along for the ride, but itโs also my favourite way to check back in with our progress along the way (check out how we did with last yearโs renovation goals here). Ready to see which projects made the list for 2025? I canโt wait to share them with you!
Our 2025 Renovation List

ONE: Finish the walk-in closet in our Primary Bedroom.
While we’ve got all of the cabinetry built and installed, we’re planning to add some framing, trim and paint to it all to give these IKEA cabinets more of a built-in look. This project will be the first one we tackle in 2025.

TWO: Replace the flooring throughout the second floor.
Once we finish our closet, we’re planning to move right onto installing the rest of our new hardwood floors. We’re planning to carry the same hardwood flooring from our Primary Bedroom right through the hallway as well as the other two bedrooms on this floor. Eventually, we’ll also change out the flooring in the other two bathrooms as well as the Pyramid Room (bonus room above our garage) – more on that later.
THREE: Replace all of the doors and trim around the second floor.
As we install the new flooring throughout our second floor, we’ll also be replacing the doors and trim work to match our Primary bedroom. Replacing the flooring, doors and trim will go such a long way to updating our second floor – I cannot wait to see this one all finished up!

FOUR: Finish Carson’s new bedroom.
Another goal leftover from last year’s list, finishing up Carson’s new bedroom is definitely a big priority for the year ahead. We had some pretty big plans for this space (see our ideas here), but I think we’ve decided to whittle down the wishlist a bit in an effort to get things finished up a little faster. This space is currently a construction zone filled with all of the tools and materials we’ve been using to renovate our Primary Bedroom and Bathroom, but once we get it all cleared out, all that’s really left in here is floors, doors, trim and paint which, in the grand scheme of things, feels like next to nothing. ๐ We’re really hoping we can finish this space up for him before his birthday rolls around at the end of April. Carson and I have been hard at work dreaming up a design for this space together, I can’t wait to share our design plans with you soon!

FIVE: The Pyramid Bathroom.
This little bathroom really is more of an extra space for us – it’s remained unused since the day we moved in and quite honestly, we really haven’t needed it. It might seem like an odd space to waste our time and money on right now with so many other more useful spaces on our renovation list, but for some reason, I’ve had nothing but ideas for this bright little bathroom and I just can’t resist bringing them to life (especially when inspiration has felt so hard to come by in this new/old house of ours for me). Plus, I’d love to get this little bathroom freshened up so that Carson can have a nice, new bathroom to use while we work our way through that awful red bathroom he’s using right now. Speaking of the red bathroom…

SIX: The Red Bathroom.
Ugh. This room is by far my least favourite in this whole house. With it’s checkered floors, red fixtures, the world’s smallest shower and leaky old taps, well, let’s just say it’s in desperate need of some changes. I don’t really have a clear vision for this space yet, so I’m hoping that renovating the Pyramid Bath first will buy me some extra time while I get it all figured out. This one may or may not happen this year – I don’t want to rush things, so I’d call this one more of a wish list item.
THE MAYBE LIST…
Like the Red Bathroom, we have a few other big ideas that may or may not happen this year.

SEVEN: Refinish the tennis court.
We’ve been talking about refinishing the tennis court since the day we moved in. It’s original to the house (built in 1988) and it definitely shows. It’s so full of cracks we’re honestly not sure we can even salvage it at this point, but we’d really love to bring it back to life if we can. Hoping we can hire this one out to the pros.

EIGHT: Paint the fence and deck.
Our fence and deck have also seen better days. While they’ll probably need to be totally replaced at some point, I think if we can swap out the worst of the boards and then give it all a good sanding and a couple coats of paint, we could probably buy ourselves a few more years with them. I was hoping we could tackle them last year, but between travel and renovations, the Summer really got away from us. I’d sure love to get this one crossed off the list this year.

NINE: The Pyramid Room.
We’re planning to use this as a workshop while Brady renovates the rest of the second floor, saving him having to run up and down the stairs with every cut of a board or tile (the same way we used Carson’s new room through our own bedroom renovation). If we make it through our renovation list above, we’ll finish off this last space on our second floor with some new wool carpet and trim work. We’re planning to turn it into an extra living room space/office for Brady – though we’re not totally decided on it all yet.
I realize this is a pretty lofty list. There isn’t a single project listed that won’t take at least a few months to complete, but, after finally finishing up our own Primary Bedroom and Bathroom, we’re definitely feeling more motivated to see more spaces in this house brought back to life. Of course, I’ve also got a ton of smaller ideas rolling around my head too, so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how all of this pans out. ๐
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day!
