Sharing a quick little update on all things {currently}…
Oh my goodness friends, can you even believe that we’ll be flipping the calendars to December tomorrow?! (Well, assuming y’all still use paper calendars like us anyway!)
I just can’t get over how quickly the holiday season has snuck up on us!
Honestly, life has felt so hectic + busy these last few months. I’ve struggled to keep up with Carson’s activities, finishing up our renovations, and just the ordinary, everyday work of maintaining a home, and taking care of our family all while teaching full time (and of course all the extra work that comes with that!). I’ve really enjoyed being back in the classroom SO much, but maintaining any sort of life balance with our busy schedules has felt totally impossible lately (as you’ve probably noticed by my sporadic posting schedule – even an Instagram post has seemed impossible to pull together).
And with the holiday season rolling in, things are about to get busier than ever as we fill our already our busy schedules with holiday parties, Christmas events, baking treats, hosting friends and family, and of course all that festive blog content I’ve been dreaming up since last year. I know if I’m not careful all the busyness of the season will completely overshadow the joy. And so, instead of trying to do all the things this holiday season, I’m making the choice to keep things simple this year. Insead of getting wrapped up in all the things I should be doing (and let’s face it, that list tends to grow quite quickly!), I’m going to be more intentional about how we choose to spend our time this holiday season – making joyful memories with my family instead of those never-ending to-do lists.
Obviously, some cozy, nostalgic holiday decor brings a whole lot of Christmas joy, so keep your eye out for all sorts of holiday home tours throughout the next few weeks.
And now, as we look ahead to a much needed quiet + cozy weekend, here’s a quick update about where I am {currently}…
Reading: I started this book months ago and then our busy schedules got the best of me – looking forward to picking it up again this weekend!
Writing: A whole home tour (including a video) of how our home is looking today.
Watching: All the Christmas movies – here’s a great Netflix Christmas Movie Guide in case you’re wondering what to watch.
Needing: All the holiday plaid!
Creating: All the Christmas home tours! (I shared my first one this week!)
Learning: How to use my instapot (finally!)! Any favourite books or recipes I should check out?
Planning: All things Christmas, including decor, recipes, holiday hosting and a cozy tablescape like this one!
Loving: I could spend all day flipping through this beautiful book!
Wearing: I’ve been living in this soft + cozy cardigan.
Coveting: This beautiful machine has made its way to the top of my wish list! *hint, hint Brady!*
Working for me right now: Keeping things simple this Christmas. (More on that coming soon!)
What’s not: I’ve definitely been struggling to maintain balance in our lives while teaching full time (as you may have noticed by my lack of posting lately). Though I’ve enjoyed being back in the classroom so much, I’m definitely looking forward to a slower schedule again soon.
Anticipating: Celebrating the holidays with all of our family and friends!
I’d LOVE to hear where are you currently? Have you pulled out the Christmas decor yet?
Wishing you SUCH a lovely weekend!
