Bring farmhouse style to your Summer porch with these 5 simple ideas…
Y’all know how much I love this series! I mean honestly, who doesn’t have 10 minutes to spare?
On the first Wednesday of each month, I’ve been teaming up with an amazing group of bloggers to bring you all sorts of inspiration that you’re sure to love. This month’s theme was {outdoor decorating}, and I cannot wait to see the lovely ideas that everyone came up with!
But first, I’m excited to share our own Summer porch…
And of course, a few simple ideas to bring help you bring a little farmhouse style to your own front porch space.
Because there’s nothing more welcoming than the charm & character of a farmhouse porch…
one: Start with a cozy spot to curl up
Whether it’s morning coffee, afternoon stories or a glass of wine at the end of the day, there’s no place we’d rather be than snuggled up on this comfy sectional from The Brick!
two: Pile on the pillows
What would a cozy sofa be without some pillows to curl up with!
Here are a few of my faves…
three: Bring in some vintage elements to add character
My very favourite way to add charm to any space is to include some lovely antique pieces…
And my favourite vintage piece? This lovely flower box sitting under that gorgeous antique window…
four: Scatter in some flowers
Because what would a Summer porch be without some pretty flowers!
five: Add a lovely wreath to the door
The perfect way to say {welcome}, a bright & beautiful Summer wreath (find the tutorial here)…
I’ve linked up a few of my favourites below:
Friends, nothing says Summer like sipping drinks on the front porch…
If you need us, we’ll be curled up right here enjoying that sunshine!

Awwww, well thank you! It’s our fave place to hang out!!!
hey girl- love your porch! so pretty!
Thank you so, so much Shawnna!!!
Love your hanging baskets and that sectional looks so comfy!
Thank you SO much Heather! It’s our favourite place to hang out all Summer long!
First time commenting, Kristi… Love your blog! You do lovely work and decor. 🙂 Wanted to know… what type of flowers do you have in the white pots on the far right side, going down the steps? Very pretty in contrast to the white pots/planters.
Thank you so, so much for your kind words Julie! I wish I could tell you all about those pretty flowers, but the truth is, I know nothing about gardening and have no clue what they are – I found the pots already made at the greenhouse and fell in love instantly! I love how they all trail down the pots. So sorry I can’t be more help!
Thanks for the reply. I was actually asking about the peach/pink flowers… they look like they might be impatiens? No worries if you don’t know. 🙂
Ahhhh, I *think* those are begonias and I actually found those ones at Walmart! Aren’t they such a pretty colour.
Yes! They are gorgeous! My next guess would have been begonias, so I think you are right… I have two empty white pots on my landing (aka my porch!). I’m going to fill them with those! (*runs to Walmart*) Thanks, Kristi!
Oh good! You’re SO welcome Julie!!!
Love your porch and love the ideas! Will definitely make use of them!
Thank you so, so much! I’m so happy you’re feeling inspired!
The hanging plants and wreath look wonderful! Love what you did with your porch.
Thank you so, so much!!!
Your porch is lovely and inviting…. the soft touches add much. 🙂
Thank you so, so much!
Love, love , love your porch–especially the sectional! Our windows are close to the ground like yours, so I wondered how much of the back of the sectional you can see from inside house? I have always avoided putting furniture that is taller than the bottom of the window, but that limits the options for furniture.
Thank you so, so much Diane! Though it’s a lower profile sofa, it does sit a few inches above the bottom of the window, but with the basket weave texture running all along the back, it actually looks quite pretty. Maybe something with a low profile that looks nice from the back might work well for you too. Good luck!!!
Your porch looks amazing!
I consider a porch the perfect place to get comfy with a cup of tea and a book after a long day of work or just to play with your kids.
Your ideas are just great: pillows, vintage elements, flowers and the bright & beautiful wreath.. perfect.
The pillows are my favourites. I add them wherever I can: porch, sofa, reading chairs, master bed.. I think they are a great addition to any place you want to make comfortable and cozy. 🙂
Thank you for this useful article!
Thank you so, so much Luiza!!! Our porch is one of our very favourite places to hang out together as a family!
I know, me and my husband love sitting on the porch late at night with a glass of wine.
I don’t know if you ever considered it, but a swing might be a great addition too! It gives you such a good feeling – almost like when you were a child. 🙂
We’d LOVE to put a swing in! Thanks for the great suggestion Luiza!
