MY FAVOURITE READS FROM THE WEEK

Just two weeks until Christmas my friends. TWO weeks! Can you even believe it?! Are you feeling ready? I finished up my shopping a few weeks ago and am just waiting on a few last packages to arrive now. Even better, I took advantage of a rare Saturday to myself last weekend and, while the boys were gone skiing for the day, I poured myself a glass of wine, put on a Hallmark movie and managed to get nearly all of our gifts wrapped before it was over. Usually time gets away from us and Brady and I find ourselves wrapping everything at the last minute, so it feels extra special to see a pile of gifts tucked under the tree already.
Our wrapping wasn’t the only thing we managed to get done this week (thank goodness!), we’ve also made a ton of progress down in the basement. If you follow along on Instagram, you may have already seen a sneak peek of the wallpaper Brady put up in the powder room. I’d been dragging my heels for weeks on this, flip-flopping back and forth on the colour choice for the wallpaper and feeling a little unsure that wallpaper was even the way to go (paint just sounded SO much easier!). Brady was feeling much more sure about it all though and encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone (as I’d planned to do all along). He took on hanging the wallpaper last weekend and you guys, I couldn’t be more thrilled with how it turned out! I’m SO grateful he saw my vision for this space, even when I couldn’t, and pushed me to trust the plans we’d laid out for this space.
And, as you can see from the photos above, not only did he manage to get the wallpaper up, but he also installed our new floors as well (you can find them linked in our design plans here). I love the warmth the add to this space and I think that mid-toned wood ties in so perfectly with the wallpaper! Next up, we’re hoping to get the toilet and sink installed this weekend. Also on the docket this weekend, finishing up this wet bar with the last few cabinet pieces we’d been waiting on. We’d really hoped to have our basement all finished up before Christmas, but with so much left to do (we also have to figure out how to hang our custom electrical panel cover and wire in all of the audio and cable for our tv area), I’m thinking New Year’s Day might be a more realistic timeline. The new goal is to at least be able to curl up for a movie down here on Christmas Eve, which basically means getting the surround sound all hooked up and our sofa moved downstairs (totally do-able I’d say!). Keep an eye on my Insta-stories to watch our progress!
