Ah, happy Friday my friends! How was your week? We’ve been slowly working our way into the holiday season around here. Carson and I have been been making our way through the bins of Christmas decorations and, while decorating for the holidays has been a slower process this year as we figure out where things should go in the new house, it’s also felt more special than ever filling up this house will all of the nostalgia of Christmas. We’ve still got a few more bins to unpack yet, but I’m hoping to share more with you next week.
It hasn’t been all things Christmas around here though – last weekend I FINALLY managed to get the office painted! Since taking down the built-in shelves this summer, it’s been in pretty rough shape, so it felt really good to finally get those walls all patched up and painted. I actually did a little poll on Instagram about the colour options I was considering – I’d already chosen the colour, but was feeling curious about which way you all would have gone in there. Turns out the colour I’d chosen was the least popular vote by a long shot! Ha! That’s okay though, because I’m head-over-heels in love with it and I know that once you see it, you will be too! I shared a peek at the new wall colour in this week’s email – it’s all set to go out tomorrow, so be sure to subscribe here if you aren’t on my list yet. Email subscribers are always the first to hear the latest AND I love to work in a good sneak-peek just for my subscribers every once in a while.
While I was painting away in the office, the guys spent their day outside building out a frame for our backyard skating rink. Brady always had a rink out here growing up and both he and Carson are just SO excited to have the chance to build their own together this year!
This weekend, I think Brady’s hoping to finish framing out the rink so that we can haul in some water to fill it with next week. He and Carson calculated that it would take 8 days of running the hose to fill the rink with 4 inches of ice! I have no idea how they came up with that, or how accurate it really is, but I think we’ve decided to order up some water trucks to fill it with instead.
While the boys are building in the backyard, I’m planning to take off for a weekend away in the city with some girlfriends – some shopping, a quick stop for some permanent bracelets, a delicious dinner and some fancy cocktails afterwards – I cannot wait! I hope your weekend ahead is shaping up to be just as wonderful!
