Sharing My Favourite Reads From The Week Just In Time For The Weekend.
Happy Friday friends! And a very happy May Long Weekend to my fellow Canadians! Despite it’s less than stellar reputation for cold and even snowy weather, May Long is always one of my very favourite long weekends of the year because it tends to be that unofficial kick off to all things Summer. Around here, May Long marks the start of camping season, gardening and all the Summer sports – regardless of what the weather drags in (and yes, it often still snows), here in Alberta, we love celebrate May Long by welcoming in the Summer ahead!
Last year, we spent our May Long Weekend planting our very first vegetable garden (find the plans for our raised garden beds here). I enjoyed growing our own groceries so much that this year, I’ve begged Brady to help me expand our garden space even more this year. I’ve been dreaming up ideas for weeks now (pop on over to Pinterest to see some of my inspiration), and we’ve actually come up with some pretty big plans to create a lovely little garden space in a sunny little corner of our yard. Now, with a new pup roaming around the yard, we’re thinking a fence around our new garden space would be nice, so Brady’s been helping me design a little area that not only expands my garden space, but will help keep Miss Charley out of all that food I’m hoping to grow. I’m really excited about what we’ve come up with, so be sure to follow along on Instagram as we start bringing it all to life this weekend!
Though it’ll still be another week or two before we get that new garden space finished up and ready for planting, I did manage to get a head start planting my hanging baskets and planters this week. Earlier in the week I popped out to Deb’s Greenhouse (find here on Facebook here) near Edmonton, AB to design and plant my own custom hanging baskets and planters for our porch. Swing by my facebook page to catch our video of the entire process from start to finish. I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out and cannot wait to get them hung on around our porch (I’ll share a look back at last year’s porch below for you)!
Now, before we get on with all the yard work and garden building, here’s what I’ll be catching up with…
Swooning over this dreamy greenhouse!
This lavender lemon rose cocktail is sure to be the drink of the Summer!
Cream cheese ice cream – YES please!
This beautiful cabin is SO effortlessly cozy!
Wishing you a lovely weekend my friends!
