A quick little catch up and my favourite reads from the week.

Hello my friends! I hope you’ve had a wonderful week!
Things were pretty quiet on the blog this past week as we had an unexpected trip to Ontario to attend a memorial service. Our sister-in-law lost her Mother, an absolutely incredible woman that was taken far too soon. While it was through the saddest of circumstances, we’re so glad we could be there to gather and spend time with our family. We were also grateful for the chance to see and experience some of the most beautiful areas around southern Ontario that we’ve heard so much about – we wandered the beautiful walkways and gardens around Niagra Falls, explored Niagra on the Lake (one of our new favourite places) and even did some biking along the shores of Lake Erie. With views across the Great Lakes, southern Ontario really has some of the most beautiful landscapes, lush plant life and inspiring architecture (I definitely have more of an East Coast design style!). Finally seeing all of these places that we’d heard so much about really helped us to feel even more connected with our sister-in-law (who grew up there) and her beautiful family.
Despite being away for a week, we have somehow managed to tackle all sorts of little jobs from our to-do list. Just through the past two weeks, we’ve hung new smart shades in the kitchen and living room & new curtains in our dining area. We’ve also swapped out a few lights around the house, with a few more to go this weekend hopefully. And finally, I’ve spent hours and hours and hours filling all of the garden areas I’d emptied out last month with loads of new dirt and plants – so far I’ve emptied out 5.5 giant pallets of dirt as well as planted 6 new trees and 27 new shrubs. I’ve only finished the front garden areas so far, but I’m hoping to finish up the back gardens today – wish me luck! I’ve been sharing tons of pictures of everything through my Insta stories, but I’m hoping to share a proper update on it all here on the blog next week. For now, here’s a little sneak peek…
