Hello friends! I hope you’re having a wonderful start to this new year! I don’t know about you, but it sure took us a while to get back into the swing of things around here and find our rhythm again after the holidays. I think we all just needed a bit of time to sit in the quiet, to recharge our minds and bodies, and find more clarity about where we might want to focus our time & energy together through the year ahead. Allowing ourselves the time and space to sit with all the thoughts & ideas swirling around our heads and talking through our values and goals for 2023 really helped us to align and focus our intentions where they matter most for us. We’ve set some lofty renovation goals this year, but we also want to make sure we are leaving plenty of room for travel, visits with family & friends and lots of adventure. Brady and I put together a list of house goals for the year ahead – I’m hoping to share them here on the blog next week, but in the mean time, you can also check out this list of smaller projects we’re hoping to tackle through the next few months too.

We’ve been busy behind the scenes these last couple of weeks planning out our first (and most extensive) renovation of the year – our primary bedroom, bathroom, closet and Carson’s room. We’d been stuck for ages on layout for everything for months now, but with the help of my incredible sister-in-law (check out her beautiful blog here), and a roll of painter’s tape to help us visualize all of our options, I think we’ve finally landed on a final layout for each space. And now, it’s onto the fun part – pulling together the design and decor. I cannot wait to share it all with you!
And now, read on for a quick little update of where we are currently…
CURRENTLY
Reading: Wishing it hadn’t taken so long for me to pick up this book – SO good!
Writing: Just as soon as I finish up this post, I’m hoping to type up our list of house project goals for the year ahead. Watch for it on the blog next week!
Needing: Some window treatments for our kitchen, dining and living room areas. Still not entirely sure what I want to do here, but definitely needing to make up my mind soon.
Creating: My mind has been in over-drive this month as I work on collecting inspiration and creating mood boards for our reno spaces (see what I’ve been pinning here). I’ve been thinking about putting together a post about how I create a room design – would you be interested in following along with that process?
Loving: We have had THE MOST amazing weather so far this year! It’s been sunny and warm and so beautiful all we want to do is be outside all day long!
To Do: My main focus this month is to create some design plans/ mood boards for our reno spaces. These always help to keep the big picture in mind as we work through the renovation process.
Wearing: I’ve been living in this super comfy hoodie for weeks now.
On my wish list: Some cozy chairs for our front study. Keeping my eyes open.
Working for me right now: My new planner! I know paper & pencil planners aren’t for everyone, but they’re still my favourite way to organize my thoughts. After 5 years of using the same tried and true (but very expensive) custom planner, I made the switch to this beautiful weekly planner and so far, I’m happy to report that I’m loving it. I love the weekly spreads and how easily I can glance at my week and add to my daily to-do lists, but even more, I love the goal setting aspect to this planner. I often struggle to set long-range goals, so I especially appreciated the way this planner broke it all down, helping me to define my core values and then set some yearly goals, habits and intentions. Even better, it has me revisiting those goals and habits on a monthly and weekly basis, to ensure my time is intentionally poured into my goals and values. Best of all, it does all that while looking SO beautiful sitting on my desk! 😉
What’s not: Narrowing down our design plans for our renovations. I have SO many ideas swirling around my head, it’s hard to pull them all into focus.
Anticipating: I’ve been sneaking in some runs on our treadmill through these cold, snowy, Winter months, but I’ve got to say, all of this warm weather lately has me really looking forward to the day I can run outside on the pavement again!
I’d LOVE to hear where are you currently! Let me know what’s new and exciting in the comments below.
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day my friends!
