Taking you on a tour of our farmhouse style bedroom all decked out for the holidays.

Here we go friends … I’m SO excited to be sharing my first holiday home tour of the season on the blog today! Even more, I’ve teamed up with an incredible group of bloggers to bring you all sorts of beautiful farmhouse Christmas inspiration, which you can find linked up at the bottom of this post. I can’t wait to soak up all of the lovely farmhouse Christmas ideas that everyone has to share! But first, let me take you on a tour of our own bedroom all cozied up for the holidays.

Our bedroom is always the first space I decorate with each change in season and Christmas is no different. Keeping the decor simple in here always makes is the easiest place for me to start. Plus, there’s just something about crawling into a cozy nest at the end of a long day. As the days grow colder, shorter and snowier, I can never wait to start warming up our bedroom space with all that cozy holiday decor.

As the cold Winter months start to roll in, I always swap out our linen sheets for some cozy flannel, but the rest of our bedding remains the same (leave some links to it at the end of this post). I think this festive throw pillow brings such a lovely pop of colour into the space. Some faux potted greens carry more festive colour to our bedside tables as well.

I couldn’t let that merry little pillow stand all alone on our big old bed, so I draped one of my favourite plaid throws over the bed to keep it company (and of course, bring more of those festive colours into the space).

I’ve been hanging these mercury glass ornament wreaths at the head of our bed for the last few years now – every year I say that I’m going to try something different, but no matter how many different pieces I try here, I keep coming back to the simplicity and touch of sparkle that these pretty little wreaths bring (similar here).

You may have noticed that pretty flickering candle on our window sill. It’s actually a battery operated faux candle, but the flickering top gives it the most lovely, glow that flickers just like a real candle would. I’ve added a pair of these to the window sills in each of our bedrooms (similar here). I love the warm glow they bring to each room & they look so cozy flickering in the windows from outside our home as well.

Our DIY fireplace feels so cozy with a snowy cedar garland draped over the mirror and a few simple decorations along the mantel (linked up at the bottom of this post). A large basket is the perfect way to keep a few extra cozy blankets handy (like this super simple DIY knit blanket).

Things are just as cozy on the other side of the room as well. My DIY pom pom wreath brings lots of cozy texture hanging over a vintage wood window and pair of pre-lit pine trees adds a warm glow to fall asleep in front of each night.

And that little reading nook at the far end of our bedroom is always one of my favourite views in our whole house. Those gorgeous chairs always look so warm + inviting no matter what time of year, but I think they look cozier than ever with the rich textures of these throw pillows, that lovely cedar wreath hanging over it all (similar here) and the cozy knit blanket (similar) draped over an old vintage ladder (similar).

A flickering candle that fills the room with a yummy festive scent never hurts either (find the tutorial for this DIY scented candle here).

It always amazes me how much just a few simple touches can warm up a space!

Hi I just found your blog through the link up from Maison de Pax. Your bedroom is so beautiful! I signed up to receive future posts. Please tell me how you finished your wall behind your bed; is it a stencil or wallpaper? Would you mind sharing the details or linking me up to a previous post where you described that lovely wall? Thanks so much for the inspiration!
Hi Sherri, thank you so much for your kind words! I’m so glad you’ve chosen to follow along! I painted that wall behind our bed with a stencil and it was SO much easier than I’d ever expected – you can read more about it all here: https://www.makingitinthemountains.com/knew-painting-stencilled-wall-easy/. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any other questions. Thanks again Sherri!
Ooh! That bed looks so cozy!
