This DIY Photo Hanger is such a pretty way to display artwork or photos – changing them out is an absolute breeze and it’s so simple to make too!
Somehow, it’s been two whole years since starting this little blog of mine.
I still can’t believe it.
It’s certainly seen many changes through those years. It’s grown beyond my wildest dreams into something I couldn’t ever have imagined. It’s also evolved within my own life, as life tends to do.
Our story has changed. Our needs have changed. And my style has most definitely changed.
Many of our old posts and projects have become irrelevant within our lives today. I clung to them still, because they were a part of our story and really, helped make this blog what it is today.
But the truth is, we had outgrown many of them. Some no longer fit within our farmhouse loving style and some simply didn’t fit into our new home and the spaces it had to offer.
And so they sat in our overloaded basement. Until we embarked on our journey to {sparking joy} that is and gave that basement an overhaul. Decluttering our home gave us a reason to sell/ give away the things in our life we no longer needed. Some of that included those old DIY projects that had served their purpose in our lives.
We sold our beloved wood plank clock, that was just too big for our much lower ceilings. We sold these rustic end tables that no longer fit into our new living room. And we gave away these picture ledge shelves to someone that might actually put them to work again.
It’s funny though, for all of the things we got rid of, these rustic art hangers, our very first project on the blog, weren’t among them. In fact, they were the first things we hung on our walls when we made the move from BC last year, and they remain one of the only things hanging on them today (I refuse to waste time decorating our main floor when we plan to just rip it all out anyway).
I adore these rustic art hangers!
They were so simple to make and, those little clips make changing things out so quick and easy! They’ve really made for the perfect way to display Carson’s little art projects.
I love them SO much and I’m so excited to have this chance to remake them for y’all today as part of Wayfair’s Craft Redux campaign!
I can’t wait to show you how I’ve put them to work in our new farmhouse style hallway space!
To create each one, I started with a plain old 1×6 board. I cut mine to 6′ long, but obviously, you should make yours whatever length will work best in your space. After smoothing out the ends with some sandpaper, I brushed my board with a bit of stain (find the one I used here).
Then, I attached a picture hook like this onto the back of my board at each end. And on the front, I screwed an eyelet hook into the middle of my board at each end and another in the centre and fished a length of this twine through each one, tying a simple knot around the two end hooks to hold it in place.
After hanging it on the wall, I used some pretty little clothespins to hang some photos onto the string. And friends, we have ourselves a lovely photo hanger…

This is a fantastic project! It seems so simple (& for me, it may take a ‘little’ longer than 10 minutes!), but brilliant! I have been stewing about a way to hang some photos and my girls’ school artwork w/out crowding the fridge! I love it! Thanks for the inspiration!
