Quick + Easy Project List | Winter 2024

Sharing a list of all of the quick + easy projects I’m hoping to tackle around the house before Spring rolls in.

Last week, I shared our renovation goals for the year ahead – all of the big renovation projects that we’re hoping to make it through in 2024. But, it doesn’t end there my friends. Not surprisingly, there are plenty of smaller projects I’d love to tackle in between it all as well. Little things like paint, lighting, and furniture can have a bigger impact than you might think! In fact, I shared a whole post about some of the smaller updates we’ve done around this old house since moving in, simple changes that anyone can make to help a space feel more like home.

Each season, I’ve been putting together a little list of small projects I’d like to tackle through the months ahead. It’s such a great way for us to dream up ideas and keep the momentum going around here.

Before I dive into the long list of things I’d like to tackle before Spring rolls in, let’s check in with our progress on our Project List from last Fall:

FALL PROJECT LIST

๐—ซ ONE: Finish renovating the Study – not quite done, but nearly there!

๐—ซ TWO: Replace the flooring on our stairs – should be done in the next couple of months.

โœ” THREE: Dive back into our primary bedroom and ensuite – catch up with our progress here!

๐—ซ FOUR: Updates for our Living Room – we’ve started this (hello new arm chair and sofa!), but still have a few more ideas up my sleeve. Catch up with our plans for this space here.

โœ”๏ธ FIVE: Swap out our exterior lights. Done and they look SO good (here are the ones we used).

Two out of five might not look like much, but we can definitely see that finish line with the rest. Considering we had a busy holiday season and a whole lot of hockey in there too, I’m super happy with our progress here!

And now, let’s dive into all of the projects I’d love to tackle before Spring…

Quick + Easy Winter Project List

ONE: Paint the brass fireplace surrounds.

Planning to use this to paint the brass fireplace surrounds black. I think it will go such a long way to updating the look of the dated 90’s brass in our Living Room and Study.

TWO: Paint our Living Room Floors.

You read that right my friends – I want to PAINT those ugly orange floors in our Living Room. We plan on totally reworking our Kitchen and Living Room sooner than later, so sinking a ton of money into new flooring that likely won’t work with the new layout I have planned just isn’t something I can stomach, no matter how much I hate these floors. We’ve thought through all sorts of ideas to get rid of these floors, but in the end, knowing that whatever we do likely won’t be able to stay through the renovations we have planned, I think the one that makes the most sense for us to paint them. I’ve been doing a ton of research on this and I really think it’ll be the perfect solution for us to tide us over until we can properly renovate it all down the road. I promise I’ll share more on this soon!

THREE: Paint the inside of all of the closets through our main floor.

We have four closet spaces on our main floor, all of which are the original 1988 peachy-white. While I’ve managed to paint every other square inch of our main floor (including walls, ceiling and trim in every single room!), I’d love to finish out the closets too.

FOUR: Organize our main floor closets.

Once the paint is dry, I’d love to organize each of the closets on our main floor to better suit our needs. Thinking shelves, baskets and extra shoe racks. Nothing too permanent as they’ll all be changing down the road, but simple storage solutions that will help them to not be a total disaster and hopefully function better for us.

FIVE: Paint the interior of our Pantry.

Much like all of the closets around our main floor, our pantry is looking pretty tired and is in desperate need of some TLC.

SIX: Organize the Pantry.

Again, like our closets, our Pantry could definitely be more functional than it is currently. More simple fixes planned in here too – things like baskets and bins that can easily be transferred through a renovation.

I think that should do it for now. I mean, I have a ton more ideas rolling around my head, but I’m trying to pace myself and stay focused on making simple changes that will have a big impact for our family here. Do you have any projects planned through the months ahead? I’d love to hear about them in the comments below!

Wishing you SUCH a lovely day my friends!
