Sharing our favourite wallpaper options that are bold + colourful, but still read as neutral.
I’ve been hard at work these last couple of weeks trying to finalize our design plans for our ensuite bathroom. Brady’s almost ready to start drywalling our primary bedroom, bathroom and closet, which means we need to start ordering up all of the materials so we can be ready for next steps (see our latest reno update here if you missed it). It’s mainly the plumbing fixtures and flooring that are coming up next, but without a crystal clear vision for the space, it’s nearly impossible to go ahead and order anything. I think this is where a lot of people struggle to pull a vision together – committing to one piece of the puzzle at a time, without having a clear vision of how all of those different parts will come together can sometimes lead to feeling like you’ve missed the mark somewhere along the way. It’s really important to consider how each little piece will play into the space as a whole. And, while you have to start committing to things at some point, I find that SO much easier when I have a clear vision of how all of those pieces will come together.
After collecting inspiration for our ensuite, I pulled out my favourite ideas and any reoccurring design themes that I noticed. I then pieced all of my favourite elements together to create a more general design plan for the space. From there, I’ve been sourcing out each specific element, keeping in mind how each piece plays off all of the others. I really want to focus on mixing materials to create a collected feel, but I of course want to do this in an intentional way, so if for example, I decide to use brass lighting, then I may choose to go with another metal finish for our plumbing and yet another for our vanity mirrors and hardware. It’s so much easier to figure out all these different fixtures and finishes before actually ordering any of them up so that I can be sure they will all come together to create the cozy, collected feel I’m looking for.
While I’ve got our flooring, lighting and plumbing all figured out now, the one piece I have yet to decide on is the wallpaper for our water closet. Since it is its own separate space, I’d really love to do something bold in there, but without too much colour – something that will bring a bold pop of character, but will still read as neutral within the rest of our bathroom space. Below, you’ll find all of the wallpaper options we’ve been considering for our water closet…
- Ashok Petrol
- Paisley
- Primrose
- Nora
- Maskrosen
- Hip Rose
- Sangfaglar
- Meadow Sweet
- Nocturne
- Thicket
- Bibury
- Oak
I think the front runners for me at the moment are numbers 1, 2 and 10. Which one would you go with?
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day!
