Weekend Reading #168
A quick little update & my favourite reads from the week.

Friday already?! Did this week fly by for anyone else? I guess starting our week off with a few days away in Calgary could explain the quick week around here. We made our way down to Calgary last weekend to surprise some friends for their 40th birthday (side note: how are we turning 40 already?!) and had just the best time! Not only did we have the chance to catch up with friends that are like family, but the boys managed to sneak in a couple of ski days while we were there as well. Hockey has kept us pretty busy this Winter – we haven’t really had much spare time to visit friends and family (especially those that live further away) let alone do any skiing, so everything about this little trip felt extra special for us.
Through the weekend ahead, C has a hockey game on Saturday – it’s a couple hour’s drive away, so will take up most of our day, but on Sunday we’re hoping to finish up tiling the fireplace surround in the Study and hopefully get the fireplace all put back together. Last week, I used this high heat spray paint to paint over all of the old brass pieces – it was such an easy way to update the look and I’m so excited to see it all put back together against our new tile and that beautiful old oak trim. I’ll be sure to share our progress over on Instagram, so keep an eye on my stories for any updates.

And now, here are my favourite reads from this week…
Weekend Reading

This was such a good break down of how to plan, budget and save for renovations.
With our own ensuite renovation underway (catch the latest update here), it’s no surprise that I’ve had bathrooms on the brain lately. This post about 10 bathroom trends for 2024 was full of beautiful ideas (we’ll be working a bit of numbers 9 & 10 into our own space).
A great resource about when & where to shop vintage.
There are definitely worse things that a space looking a little dated, but if you’re looking to make a few changes to a dated room in your own home, here are some ideas to consider.
Speaking of out dated, here are some trends that will be on their way out through 2024.
Head-over-heels in love with the warm, collected feel of this gorgeous home.
The sentiment behind this post totally resonated with me – “Itโs not meant to be perfect. Itโs supposed to be a little bit wonky and a little bit off!” After all, I think it’s those quirky imperfections that really make a home feel lived in and cozy.
A great tutorial to help you paint your vinyl windows.
Brady and I have been enjoying these little jars of overnight muesli for breakfast for a few weeks now – they’re SO simple to whip up before bed and are full of all sorts of good stuff, including 20g of plant based protein. Seriously our new favourite way to start the day!
I plowed through two 5-star books this week that I just have to share! I love a good historical fiction (though this one was loosely based on real-life events). I followed it with this thriller, which was so good I devoured it in just two days! Next on my list is This Tender Land, which also has great reviews.
And finally, here’s the Instagram account I just can’t get enough of this week.

Wishing you the most lovely weekend! Let me know if you have any fun plans in the comments below!
