Add some cozy texture to your dining space with this beautiful chunky knit table runner. This knit table runner is so simple to make, it’s a perfect project for the beginner knitter.

I am so, so excited about today’s post you guys! This is one of those projects I’ve been meaning to share for ages – it’s been stuck in my head for more than a year now and I’m just so excited to finally get it up on the blog for you!

It was a couple of years ago now that I first shared this beautiful knit table runner in our dining area. And each and every time I’ve shared it since, whether here on the blog, or over on Instagram or YouTube, I get asked about where I found it. Y’all fell just as hard for it as I have and it was so disappointing to not have a direct source to share every time I got asked so that you could pick up your own cozy knit table runner too.

I knew it was something I could easily recreate myself to share with y’all. It’s one of those projects I’ve been meaning to tackle for ages and I’m just so thrilled to finally share it today!
I made sure to keep the pattern simple, so even the most novice of knitters can take this on. I swear, you won’t believe how simple this this cozy knit table runner was to whip up.
So grab yourself a pair of knitting needles and a big old ball of chunky yarn, park yourself in a cozy spot on the sofa, find an old favourite on Netflix and give this knit table runner a go my friends!

Hi, Love what you’ve done to your hom!. I want to knit the table runner, but does it only take one skein of yarn? and if so, how many yards? Thanks, Lisa
Hi Lisa! Thank you so much! I used just less than two skeins of the yarn I linked to in this post (https://amzn.to/2AiGdaL). Hope this helps! Happy knitting!

I’m ready to make the dishcloth and the table runner. I love EASY patterns. I was wondering if you have ever made knitted round or oval place mats? I would love to make some for Christmas gifts! I’m enjoying your website!
Thanks Carol! Knit placemats would make such a lovely gift to give! Unfortunately, I don’t have any patterns to share myself, but I’m sure you could find all sorts of inspiration with a quick search on Pinterest. Thanks again and happy knitting!!!
Hi! I’m a new knitter and I’m excited to try this beautiful project. It will be my third project. I do have a question. In your blog post, you talk about size 15 needles, but in the video you say size 10 needles. Can you confirm for me which size is correct. Thanks so much!!
Hi Julianne, I’m so glad you asked! I used size 15 needles (which measure 10mm). I’m so sorry for the confusion! Happy knitting!
