Currently | Life in January 2024
Welcome to 2024 my friends! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and that this new year is already off to a great start! Our holiday season was an absolute whirlwind of adventure for us. While our Christmas was slow & relaxing, filled with all of the traditions we’ve come to look forward to, our New Year’s was pretty much the complete opposite.
For Christmas this year, we teamed up with Brady’s side of the family to surprise the kiddos with a trip to Disney World through the new year. Five days later, with Christmas already all packed up for another year, we found ourselves boarding a very early flight to Florida with our family. Together with our family, we explored all four Disney parks along with Universal Studios (the highlight of our trip was definitely exploring all things Harry Potter here). We stayed in suites at Disney’s Old Key West resort (which is where Brady’s family had always stayed growing up), which came with all sorts of perks like condo style living, early entry to the parks and a whole system of busses and even ferry boats to transport us all around Disney. We rode the fastest roller coasters, some nostalgic favourites and everything in between. We ate all the food, drank all the drinks and rang in the new year with the most incredible fireworks. We swam in the sun, collected pins (a tradition we started on our last trip to Disney World) and even managed to squeeze in a few games of tennis. We started early and stayed up late, squeezing in every ounce of fun & adventure that we could together. We made SO many happy memories with our family and, while it was hands down the busiest “vacation” we’ve ever been on, we left Florida feeling so much gratitude for all of the incredible experiences we were able to enjoy together with our family. This was definitely the trip of a lifetime and I’m just so happy that we were able to share it with our family.
We arrived home late Sunday night and hopped back into real life Monday morning (albeit, very slowly). I think this first week back after the holidays will be more of a catch-up-with-life sort of week, but Brady and I are both itching to dive back into all the renos asap. Over the break, we made a ton of progress up in the primary bathroom & ensuite, as well as framing out Carson’s new bedroom. I can’t wait to share it all soon, but for now, here’s a quick little update of where we are currently…
CURRENTLY
Reading:ย I’ve already plowed through my first two books of the year thanks to all of that time spent waiting in airports and I really liked them both. This cute story was one I’d started just before leaving for our trip and was done it before we got off the plane in Florida. And then this book kept me company through the flights back home. I just started this latest read last night and so far, so good.
Writing: Brady and I sat down yesterday to put together a list of project goals for the year ahead – I can’t wait to share it with you!
Needing: To order some plumbing and light fixtures for our ensuite bathroom (check out our plans for the space here).
Creating: Goals, goals and more goals. House, personal, financial, fitness – 2024 is going to be amazing!
Loving: This habit tracker app is the perfect way to break into some healthy new habits this year. On my list currently: 3L of water, gratitude journal and reading before bed each night instead of curling up in front of a show.
To Do: This is a pretty long list at the moment, but it basically all centres around finishing our primary bedroom, ensuite and Carson’s new bedroom. Also, there are a few last projects for the study in there too. Planning to share a project list on the blog here soon.
Wearing: These have been my go-to boots this Winter.
On my wish list: I’ve been wanting this cookware set for ages now.
Planning: Filling up my new planner with all the goals, ideas and project lists for the year ahead.
Working for me right now:ย Setting our big picture goals for the year and then breaking those down into smaller, more manageable steps.
Whatโs not:ย I’m having such a hard time committing to ordering up all the things for our bedroom and ensuite, but the deadlines are fast approaching, so I’m going to have to start making some decisions soon!
Anticipating:ย We’ve set some pretty lofty goals for the year ahead and I cannot wait to see them come to life!
