Weekend Reading #165

A quick little update & my favourite reads from the week.

Welcome to the first Weekend Reading post of 2024 my friends! And what a way to do it – I’m currently typing this out in front of a roaring fire trying to stay warm through our first real cold snap of the season. We woke up to temperatures below -30°C this morning (it’s -47°with the wind chill right now!). While these extreme cold snaps are admittedly not my favourite part of winter, it’s always a great excuse to cozy up at home together (at least when work and hockey don’t get in the way). We got a big dump of snow earlier this week too, so it’s finally starting to feel a little more like winter around here now.

This week was mainly a whole lot of catching up with life after our time away (you can read more about that here if you missed it) and the weekend ahead is shaping up to be much the same I think. House chores, laundry and two travel games for hockey (luckily they’re not too far). The new sofa for our living room and the custom chair for our study that I’d ordered up early in the Fall finally arrived while we were away, so Brady made plans to pop into the city to pick those up this weekend too. It’s supposed to be even colder through the weekend here, so definitely not great weather for furniture moving, but with plans through the next few weekends, making the drive in this weekend was really our only chance for weeks. After waiting on these pieces for so long, I have to say, I’m pretty excited to see them and finally get to put them to work! Here’s hoping it all goes smoothly.
