Sharing 18 goals for 2018…
2017 was a busy year for us, filled with so many exciting adventures and wonderful memories made.
We travelled a ton – visiting Disney World for the first time with Carson, exploring Whistler + Vancouver last Summer and of course, heading to the mountains as much as we possibly could for all sorts of mountain biking and skiing adventures. Last Summer I made time to train for and run not one, but three 1/2 marathons, which took me to some really fun places like Vancouver and Canmore. Brady fell in love with a new mountain bike somewhere along the way there too and spent every minute he could exploring the trails with it.
Probably one of the most exciting changes this year was Carson starting Kindergarten + hockey – two things he’s been asking about for as long as I can remember. Not surprisingly, he’s absolutely LOVING them both, but they’re definitely activities that take up a lot of our time.
We also kept plugging along with renovations, knocking all sorts of things off our reno wish list. We tackled the main floor powder room, created a fun industrial style playroom space for C, I moved my office, and we pulled together a beautiful guest room just in time for the holidays. And because that wasn’t enough, we decided to get a head start on next year’s to-do list, taking on our biggest renovation yet – gutting our entire main floor with the hopes of creating a big, open farmhouse inspired kitchen + living room space. We’re still in the middle of this one, but hope to have it finished up sometime through February.
As you can imagine, 2017 was so jam packed full of wonderful adventures, it left us feeling a bit, well, tired.
We’re definitely feeling incredibly grateful for the full lives we were able to live through the last year, but we’re ready to slow things down a bit in the year ahead.
We’ve decided that for us, 2018 will be all about doing a little bit less, but enjoying it all a little bit more.
Don’t get me wrong, we’ve still got some lofty goals for the year ahead – travel plans, renovations, replenishing our savings account after all that renovating. But, most of all, we want to spend more time doing what we love – more time with friends + family, more time in the great outdoors, more time exploring, more time relaxing.
More time with each other, creating happy memories, living our best life.
So, in keeping with this, today I’m sharing my own personal + professional goals for the year ahead…

What are your goals for the year ahead?
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day!
I had heard a lot about a word or phrase for a new year. I decided mine would be simple and clean in 2018. I have cleaned out more things a little tiny bit at a time, and when I get frazzled, I think of simple and it calms me down. I think it is a gift to be simple–frees up a lot of the too much syndrome.
Happy New Year.
Oh my gosh, I LOVE that Susan! I couldn’t agree more! Clearing out the clutter to create a simple, clean space always helps bring peace and calm for me too. Thank you so, so much – wishing you a very happy new year as well!
Wow!!!
That’s a lot of good things you are about to do.
Do you knit now. ? That’s one thing I am going to learn this year. I’m also going to make a quilt for our king size bed.
Enjoy 2018 ❤️❤️
That sounds like a great goal Rose! There’s nothing cozier than a beautiful, knit blanket! I’ve knit a few things over the years, but haven’t knit anything since I was pregnant with my son (more than 5 years ago!). I’m excited to get back into it this year!!! Wishing you such a wonderful year ahead Rose!
That is such a great list Kristi! You’ve inspired me to create one of my own. Good luck with yours in the coming year. I think it is a much better idea to have a goals list than a resolution that always gets broken!
Oh my gosh, I couldn’t agree more! Thank you so, so much Karlaeye!
Kristi, I’m just reading this list now, but what a fabulous list! Can I just copy it for my own… well, except for the half marathons? lol! Wishing you the best year yet and I know you’ll cross off many things on here! xo
Hahaha, copy away! I’d love to have a buddy to work through it with (running and all)! Thanks sweet friend! xo
