Weekend Reading #191

A quick little update & my favourite reads from the week.

Ah, happy Friday friends! How was your first week? I just can’t believe we’re a week into August already – where did the Summer go?! Between the holiday on Monday, a city trip Tuesday, another road trip to visit family today and then another city trip for more family visits tomorrow – well, it’s not surprising how quickly this week flew by for us. But, we’ve really been making the most of our more flexible schedules through the Summer, squeezing in all sorts of adventures and visits. It’s been SO nice to have this extra time to do that!

Last weekend was a long weekend here and we took advantage of the extra day off to tackle some tiling in the shower. If you caught my Insta stories, you’ll already know that we ran into a little hiccup when it came time to tile the shower niches. Long story short, I’d originally planned to mitre all of the tiles around the niches, but the tile glaze was chipping so much and we just weren’t happy with the look that was giving. So, after thinking on it a bit and looking into some other options, I think we’ve landed on ordering up some stone tile that we can cut down to line all of the inside edges of the shelf with. This will not only give a nice, clean edge around our niches, but it will also make the shelves perfectly level (so much nicer to stack things onto) and easier to keep clean as there won’t be any grout lines for water to sit in. I think we’re also going to use the stone to line our shower curb as well so that it all ties together nicely. You can see the two limestone tile options pictured above – we’re leaning towards the top one as I just love the natural look to it, but we’re still waiting to hear on timelines before we make our final choice. Here’s hoping we can get it in quickly so we can get this shower tile all finished up asap!

Luckily, it’s a perfect time for us to be on hold with projects as we’ve got the next couple of weekends booked up with Summer fun!
