The IKEA Built-In Shelves that are Inspiring Us
Sharing all of the built-in IKEA shelves that have been inspiring us as we plan our own IKEA built-in shelves.
Carson and I have been hard at work putting together plans for his new bedroom space. We’re still finalizing all of the choices for his furniture, but I’ve got the paint all ordered up for his walls and built-ins and I think we’re ready to pull the trigger on the rug and curtains as well.
Next on the list is to plan out all of his built-ins. We’ve intended to add a built-in desk all along (I’ve been gathering inspo for that for ages, planning to share that here soon too!), but somewhere along the way, we decided we needed to bring in some built-in shelves (with cabinets) as well. C has a large stereo system (he inherited my Dad’s old stereo), a growing collection of music as well as a ton of lego builds, books and more trinkets than any one person could ever need. He needs (and desperately wants) a way to store/display it all.
We tackled our first IKEA hack last month with our DIY built-in closet (see it here) and we’ve been so happy with it, I’m thinking we’ll make use of some IKEA pieces again to create Carson’s built-in shelves. I’ve been gathering up all of the inspiration I could find to help me plan out these built-ins and I think I’ve finally got a plan for it all building in my head. Before I share it though, I wanted to share some of our favourite DIY built-in IKEA shelves just in case you’ve been looking for some inspiration for your home too.
