Second Floor Renovation Update – June 2025

Sharing a quick update on our second floor renovations.

It’s been far too long since I’ve hopped on the blog to share a proper update on all of the renovations throughout our second floor. My last official update was back in February, which shared our finished bedroom and ensuite (minus a few pieces of furniture), as well as some in-progress shots of our closet (you can see that one all finished up here). While we have managed to finish up our new walk-in closet, progress sort of slowed from there as things picked up in our every day life outside of renovations. While it felt like things were moving at a snail’s pace, looking back now, I can see we’ve definitely made some gains here. I can’t wait to show you what we’ve been up to!

Primary Bedroom

After waiting more than 8 months, our nightstands finally arrived, along with a matching dresser for our closet (pictured below). Luckily, they were worth the wait! I’m still on the hunt for a bench to put at the end of our bed and maybe some sort of tree to pop into the corner beside our bathroom, but I don’t want to rush it. We’re just SO thrilled with how this space has come together!

Hallway + Guest Room

It may not look like from these photos, but there’s actually been a ton of change here – all new doors, hardware and trim for for all 6 doors down this hallway, as well as that little linen closet. Brady also removed the railing at the top of the stairs so he could install the new hardwood floors under it (though that part is still in the works).

Carson’s Bedroom

Carson’s room has also seen a ton of change. This room has served as Brady’s workshop through much of the reno work up here (SO much easier than running up and down the stairs to the garage), which meant we had to get the space all cleared out of supplies, tools and boxes of hardwood so that we could really start working on finishing up this space. All of the window trim has been installed and I even managed to get paint on all of the walls (still have trim and doors to paint though). It took me ages to decide on a colour, but I am so, so happy with my choice in here. It’s hard to capture the depth of it in person, but it almost has that rich look of plaster in real life. It’s the most perfect rich greige and it feels like the room has been wrapped in a cozy felt. I can’t wait to see it paired with our trim colour and the wool fabric we chose for C’s bed!

Pyramid Room

All those tools and boxes of flooring had to go somewhere, so we decided to cart it all around the corner to the pyramid room (the bonus room above our garage, but it’s been the “pyramid room” for as long as I can remember). Once we finish up C’s bedroom, the guest room and the hallway, that connects it all, we plan to move on to the last two bathrooms up here on our second floor. Finally, when those are both finished up, we’ll be ready to move all these tools back into the garage. Then, it’ll just be a matter of laying some new carpet and installing new trim in here and our second floor with be done (I’m sure that’s still a couple of years down the road, but it’s sure fun to think about!).

And that’s it my friends. It honestly hasn’t felt like much as we muddle our way through it all, but looking back, I can definitely see some progress worth celebrating here! We’ve still got a ways to go yet, but Iโ€™m so happy to be able to take you along for the ride with us!

Wishing you SUCH a lovely day my friends!ย
