This post is long overdue my friends – the last renovation update I shared about our study was all the way back in November! Though we’ve been done with our renovations in here for months now, somehow, sharing the finished space just seemed to slip my mind (I blame it on all the renovations upstairs). Since that last update, we’ve retiled the fireplace, painted the brass fireplace frame, swapped out the carpet, installed new curtains and introduced a gorgeous new leather armchair. While we’re done with the renovations in here, there are still a few more furniture pieces I’d like to source for this space – mainly a coffee table, another armchair and a cabinet for that little nook beside my desk, but I’m planning to take my time with those, happy to wait until the perfect pieces come along. This cozy little space my not technically be “done” so to speak, we couldn’t be happier with the way it’s coming together and today, I am SO excited to finally share this long overdue tour with you!
Welcome to our Study my friends!
This view has changed SO much since we moved into this new/old house back in the summer of 2022. Here’s a quick peek back at the evolution if you missed it.
I am head-over-heels in love with my new desk. Not only is it unique and beautiful, but it’s bigger than my old desk, which has made this work space so much more functional for me. It’s been the perfect spot to write out blog posts and continue planning out designs for all of the renovations to come around here.
Here’s a quick peek back at how this desk area has changed…
While I love the way the whole room has come together, I think my favourite view would have to be this little corner beside my desk. I’d still like to find a cabinet to tuck in here, something antique with a lot of character I think – there’s something so charming about the mix of modern elements like the wall sconce and lamp mix so perfectly with the more traditional pieces like that antique desk and the oak trim.
Here’s a quick before and after for you…
Of course, the other side of this space has changed SO much too. We added a deep, cozy sofa, a beautiful leather armchair, a vintage style brass reading lamp and the most beautiful custom curtains to frame it all out.
And another drastic before and after to share…
It’s hard to convey through photos just how much cozier this space feels now, but it’s safe to say, it’s become my favourite room in the house to spend time in. I start nearly every morning curled up on the sofa in here with my coffee and my latest read (here’s what I’m currently reading if you’re curious), while away countless hours working at my desk and spent many a cold, snowy evening curled up in front of a fire in here. We really couldn’t be happier with how this beautiful Study has come together!
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day!
