How I plan to continue my journey to live with intention through November.
It’s been my hope this year to be more intentional about the choices I make – how I choose to spend my time and making the choice to be more present in the moments I share with my family & friends.
Living a more intentional and purposeful life is a pretty broad statement, so I’ve decided to break things down into smaller goals for each month and, to keep myself on track, I’ve also decided to share my journey here on the blog (because let’s face it, it’s often so much easier to talk yourself out of doing something, than into doing something).
With so, so much on the go, life is feeling busier than ever, which means it’s more important than ever to focus on living my life intentionally.
Here’s a quick recap of my goals for October and how I’ve done following through…
{family}: Find two activities each week that we can enjoy as a family.
This sounded so simple when I wrote it down four weeks ago. Then, renovations took over our life. I started working full time, which wasn’t exactly the plan. And suddenly it was all I could do to stay afloat.
We definitely didn’t carve out much time to spend as a family, but we did continue to enjoy at least some special activities with Carson each week. Hoping to be more intentional with this through November.
{home}: FStay on track to finish our One Room Challenge makeover by the November 10th deadline.
So, we definitely failed at this one my friends. In fact, we ended up having to call in some reinforcements just to get back on track with things.
We’ve spent the last week scrambling – trying our best to get through six week’s worth of work in just one. Here’s hoping we can still pull it off in time!
{blog}: Organize my ideas and set a clear path to make them happen.
Done! Okay, mostly anyway.
We’ve got a rough map of what we’d like to accomplish through the next few months and a I’ve got at least some semblance of a plan to make it all happen.
{myself}: Find an hour each day to do something just for me.
Oh goodness … how sad is it that I didn’t even think about this once through the last four weeks?
For the month of November, here’s what I will be choosing to focus on to help me live with intention:
{Family}: We are so very fortunate to have the life we have – our health, a roof over our heads and never knowing hunger. In fact, we’re so comfortable in life, that it’s been easy to forget just how lucky we are. We just move through our lives without much thought or gratitude for the many blessings we have the opportunity to enjoy each day. Not only are we guilty to taking it all for granted, but even worse, we’ve done little to show Carson just how lucky he is to live this life too.
We do try our best to give when the opportunity presents itself. You know, throwing in that extra dollar or two to charity at checkout, donating items we no longer need to our local thrift stores.
On top of that, Christmas always seems to bring out the charitable side of most of us – instead of sending out Christmas cards, Brady and I always give to the Heart & Stroke Foundation as well as the MS Society – two charities that are close to our hearts.
But, here’s the thing – our charitable giving has basically consisted of giving things we really won’t miss whenever asked to. And it helps, I know it does. But it’s not enough. We are fortunate people living a very blessed life and we could definitely be doing more.
Let’s get specific: Find a way for our entire family to show gratitude for our many blessings and share them with those that may be feeling a little less fortunate right now.
{home}: Currently overwhelmed by the chaos that is the One Room Challenge and we’re just hoping we live to tell the tales of design and renovations, coming out the other side with a brand new space that works better for our family.
The finish line is in sight my friends!
Let’s get specific: Finish our One Room Challenge makeover by the November 10th deadline.
{Blog}: This has been on my to-do list for ages …
Let’s get specific: Create a video to share.
{Myself}: With our schedules filling up so quickly lately, I’m sure it’s no surprise that I’ve been struggling to make time for myself. I’ve been so busy looking after everyone else, running C to school or one of his activities, cooking up those delicious home-cooked meals, and often doing it all after a long day of teaching. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve enjoyed each and every minute of it (well, mostly anyway), but I’ve been so busy filling up everyone else’s cup so to speak, that I know my own is running empty.
So, I’m going to give this one another go…
Let’s get specific: Find an hour each day to do something just for me.
Feeling strong and ready to refocus my mind on what’s really important this month!
