Welcome to June my friends! Can you believe it?! JUNE!!!
We’ve had a ton going on these last few weeks and I can’t wait to fill you in!
We put a ton of work into making this Rustic Boy Bedroom for our not so little guy as part of the One Room Challenge. Making it through to the other side in just six weeks was quite the feat!
And right smack dab in the middle of it all, this handsome little man started soccer! You may have seen this happy mug on my Insta feed a couple of weeks ago. It’s really a ton of fun to watch all of these little 3-4 year olds ‘play’! Honestly, if he makes it through the entire game without running for the sandbox or the playground, we consider it a win!
I’ve also been working (I’m a substitute teacher) a TON lately and, it turns out, I will be going to full time through the month of June! I’m not sure whether I’m more excited to be back in the classroom five days a week or nervous about how I’m going to juggle it all for one whole month! Either way, I’m pretty sure if I make it through the month of June, it’ll be an absolute miracle!
Here’s a quick update of where I am currently …

Reading: I’m still working on The One & Only by Emily Giffin. To be fair, with busy days, my only chance to read has been the few pages I can squeak out in bed each night before my eyes just won’t stay open any longer. I’ll admit hers aren’t necessarily the most deep or profound, but her books are always a go-to when I’m looking for a quick, easy and enjoyable read.
Writing: After I finish up writing this Currently post, I’ll be typing out a super fun DIY that I’m crazy excited to be sharing as part of a blog hop dedicated to all things Summer!
Watching: Still hooked on Big Brother Canada. Don’t judge.
Listening to: Totally digging Ex’s & Oh’s by Elle King!
Needing: A great pair of black sandals like these or these!
Creating: After somehow making it through the One Room Challenge, we’ve been taking it easy on DIY projects and focusing more on tackling things around the house that we had let pile up – you know, mowing down the dandelions that have taken over our yard and planting pretty flowers that I’m hoping will survive the unpredictable Spring temperatures here in northern AB.
Learning: With what will surely be my busiest month ever ahead of me, I’m working on finding a way to manage it all, keep it all straight and balance Mommy, wife, friend (& bridesmaid), teacher, blogger and home owner (& renovator). I’ve got a lot of extra hats to juggle this month and I’m going to have to learn how to best manage my time to make it through!
Planning: Some super fun Summer trips including all of my faves: camping, mountain biking, hiking and maaaaaybe even a few wineries along the way!
Loving: Yoga! As life seemingly grows more crazy and hectic by the day, slowing down at my fave yoga studio a few nights a week has been an absolute lifesaver! I’m currently taking part in a lovely seminar focusing on the balance between strength & surrender and I’ve gotta say, it’s pretty brilliant!
Dreaming about: Long Summer days, hanging at the beach and a ton of outdoor adventures with our friends and family!
Wearing: I’m seriously living in these easy-to-slip-on and go-with-everything flats from Toms!
Coveting: This lovely Dining Room from Dear Emmeline!
Working for me right now: We have found THE BEST caregiver ever for our little man! It really is an amazing feeling to not have to worry one bit about how his day is going while I’m at work! She’s SO super sweet with him, he has a few new friends to hang with and a ton of fun activities to look forward to!
What’s not: 5-6 hours of sleep a night 🙁 I’m very quickly learning that this is not the way to get it all done!
Anticipating: My bestie’s wedding at the end of the month! She’s going to make the most beautiful bride!!!
Now, I’d LOVE to hear where are you currently? What’s new and exciting?
Wishing you SUCH a lovely week!
PS. You can find me sharing here and Savvy Southern Style.
You guys deserve such a big break after that One Room Challenge! And so fun that Carson started soccer, I bet it’s so much fun to watch him 🙂 And I totally know how you feel about going back to work full time! I’m excited for you and know you’ll find a good balance! Can’t wait to see what fun DIYs you’ve got planned. Have a fab week <3
Glad to know I’m not the only one with a busy June ahead of me! Thanks for sharing at Bloggers Brags this week. I’m pinning it to our group board on Pinterest. Have a great week!
I always enjoy reading your currently posts. And I’ve got to say that I am also in love with Ex’s and Oh’s! No shame in admitting I belt it out every time it comes on. Have a wonderful week Kristi!
Awww, thanks Amanda! Isn’t it such a catchy tune?! Wishing you an awesome week as well!
Sounds like a fun summer ahead, Kristi!! I know exactly how you’re feeling going back to work FT. It was hard trying to balance it all but I know you’ll find what works for you! Sending you a big hug!
Thank you SO much Kendra! At least it’s only a month before we’re out for the Summer!!! xo
Good luck with juggling everything and working full-time in June. I am actually a school nurse and have June and July off which is nice to try to catch up on some blog and household things. But then again, I know exactly how you will feel with working too. Hang in there and have a wonderful summer. At least you will have a great feeling when that paycheck arrives.
Thank you SO much Bethany! Yes, the paycheck will make it all worth it 😉 Enjoy your Summer off too my friend! How special that we get to have the best part of the year off!!!
Love the rustic look for a boys bedroom!
Cathy
Thanks SO much Cathy! It was a ton of fun to put together!
I LOVE reading other people’s currently posts. Let’s see, currently I am obsessed with Blogging and reading other people’s blogs. I am looking forward to vacation (I am a teacher), so in three weeks I am off for two months! I am also digging this song –> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rn9AQoI7mYU and I’m reading Italian Shoes by Henning Mankell. 🙂 #sitsblogging

Thanks Lindi! I’m looking forward to it too!!!
Love these updates! Very fun to get a “sneak peek” in your life. Loved your ORC reveal, it turned out so well! I had never heard of Ex’s & Oh’s by Elle King but I checked it out and it’s a great song, so thanks! Adding it to the playlist I jam out to. 🙂 Thanks for sharing at Merry Monday, hope to see you again next week!
Thank you SO much Chelc! I’m thrilled that you loved the room and that song is always stuck in my head 😉
Wow, you have been busy! I worked as a substitute teacher for the last five years and it was such a great way to make some money, keep up with my registration and maintain ties with a school. I’m now working just under full-time at that school and although it was busy for the first semester I’m now back into the swing of things and really enjoying it. I’m even getting back into blogging and am hosting a new linky party that starts on Sunday. I’ll have to get tips from you on how to work and blog regularly!
Have a great week and best wishes for a fabulous term of teaching!
Natasha in Oz
Thank you Natasha! It makes me so happy to hear that you are feeling settled in things being back to almost full time! Something to look forward to for sure! Like blogging, teaching really is one of those jobs that nobody could possibly know the work that goes into it until they’ve actually done it!
