SHARING A QUICK UPDATE ON LIFE CURRENTLY.
Hello October! I can’t even believe I’m typing that already?! But, I have to say, I’m excited about it none the less. While we had an amazing Summer, one that seemed to pass a little too quickly, I am ready for all of the wonderful things that Fall will bring. The cold, crisp mornings are my very favourite kind. And who can resist the beautiful colours all around? Pumpkin spice lattes, baking up a storm, flickering candles, cute boots and “shackets”, slow cooker meals, crunching through leafy paths, evenings sipping tea, curling up with a good book – there are just SO many things to love about Fall! What are some of your favourites?
If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you’ll know this has been a month of finding our routines again, painting all the things, and fixing up and/or tearing apart the rest. I’m going to save all the big house updates for later this week when I share a check-in to celebrate two months in our new home. But, in the mean time, here’s a quick little update of where we are currently…
Reading: I’ve almost made my way through my latest read and have really enjoyed it so far. Also, REALLY LOVED this and this.
Writing: Working on a post to share a quick little two month check-in of all the changes we’ve made around the house so far.
Needing: To decide on a wall colour for the study. Would you go with a clean and simple warm white, or something more bold like these?
Creating: A friend of mine is hosting a little group she’s calling a “maker’s swap”. Basically everyone gathers together, bringing something they’ve made – homegrown food, knitting, art, anything homemade – and we all trade for something else we love. I thought this was SUCH a fun idea! For my own contribution, I’ve knitted up a couple of dishcloths and made a linen tea towel to go with them. Can’t wait to see what I come home with!
Loving: I am head-over-heels in love with this new collection of rugs! In fact, I ordered up FOUR for our own house (they’ll be the perfect way to cover our ugly floors until we get around to changing them out!).
Wearing: SO happy to pull my shirt-jacket out of the closet. I picked mine up last year and that particular plaid colour doesn’t seem to be available again this year, but I’m totally crushing on this one.
On my wish list: I’ve been having the hardest time ever committing to window coverings around our main floor. Thinking something like this in the study and then maybe these in our living and dining room.
Planning: With the old ensuite bathroom cleared out, we’ve been playing around with some different layout options for our primary bedroom, bathroom and closet. The plans continue to evolve and we’ve still got a lot of tweaking to do, but I can’t wait to share all of the details once we get the final layout hammered out! Here’s a little peek at our first drafts (HUGE thanks to my sister-in-law Emily for creating these for me!!!)…
Working for me right now: My crisp morning walks to the bus stop with Carson and Charley. It’s very quickly become one of my favourite parts of the day!
What’s not: Making all of (or let’s be honest – any!) house decisions. I’ve been feeling SO much pressure to get it all right. My sister-in-law, Lindsay, reminded me that these decisions don’t have to be forever decisions – I can change my mind about anything I want to along the way, but I’ll feel so much better to get the ball rolling at least and make this house as cozy and comfortable as possible in the mean time.
Anticipating: Our primary bedroom and bathroom reno! I cannot wait to get the ball rolling with this soon!
I’d LOVE to hear where are you currently! Let me know what’s new and exciting in the comments below.
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day my friends!
