SHARING A QUICK UPDATE ON LIFE CURRENTLY.

Happy new year my friends! I hope you enjoyed a wonderful holiday season! Ours started out quite busy as we packed a whole lot of fun & adventure into the first week of our holiday break – we enjoyed so many fun moments and made so many happy memories with family & friends. The second week of our holiday break (basically from Christmas day on) was much quieter. With temperatures all around Alberta hitting record lows (we were even among the top ten coldest places in the world a couple of times), we spent most of our time staying warm inside the house, curled up in front of a toasty fire. It really was the perfect mix of holiday fun while still having a cozy, quiet week to relax. And of course, somewhere within it all, we found ourselves in a brand new year.
Though I love all of the traditions, special moments and memories that the holiday season brings to our lives, once Christmas has come and gone, I always find myself looking forward to the promise of a fresh start the the new year brings. I often have the tree down and all of the Christmas decorations from the house all gathered up and put away by the 27th or 28th (though I often leave our outdoor lights on well into January). In a way things feel a bit empty with everything all packed away for another year, but I’m always sure to leave out a few extra cozy blankets and light a candle every chance I get. There’s just something about rolling into a brand new year with a fresh, clean house. Plus, it makes it so much easier to jump right into purging & organizing all the things, which never fails to hit me this time of year (I blogged all about our organizing journey here).

While it’s always a little sad to see the holiday season behind us, a brand new year ahead always brings with it some excitement all its own. That promise of a fresh start always gets the wheels turning and, between house projects and my own personal ideas & aspirations, I can’t help but think of a zillion goals for the year ahead. It’s a bit overwhelming to be honest, but hoping to find a bit of clarity in it all and hone in on some more specific intentions and goals for the year ahead. I’m not really sure just how I’m going to do this yet, so if you have any tips or ideas, I’m all ears my friends!
And now, in the mean time, here’s a quick little update of where we are currently…
CURRENTLY

Reading: I spent most of my holiday break curled up with this book, SUCH a great read!
Writing: I’ve been recording a few sentences about our day in this little journal before bed each night for a few months now. I think it will be super fun to look back through each day once I make my way back around through year two and on.
Needing: To hone in on some goals for this new year ahead. Do you have any tips or tricks for goal setting you can share?
Creating: Picked up with this simple, quiet hobby again – a perfect way to cozy up inside on a cold day.
Loving: I am head-over-heels for our new entryway rug (you can see it in our holiday home tour here)!
Wearing: Brady gifted me a pair of these boots for Christmas and I’ve been wearing them everywhere ever since.
On my wish list: I’ve been shopping for a new dining table for ages now and this one is quickly moving to the top of my wish list. I think it would look amazing with some white upholstered chairs at either end.
Planning: A loooooong list of projects we’d love to take on through the year ahead.
Working for me right now: We’ve had a fire burning away in our fireplace non-stop all through the holidays. It’s been SO cozy, especially as we’ve travelled through some of the coldest days ever on record these past couple of weeks.
What’s not: Setting goals for the year ahead – still looking for all of your tips friends.
Anticipating: The arrival of our new Peloton Bike+. I cannot wait to try it!
I’d LOVE to hear where are you currently! Let me know what’s new and exciting in the comments below.
Wishing you SUCH a lovely day my friends!
