There’s just no easier way to bring a tired old piece back to life than with a bit of paint! I can’t wait to share this {mauve-lous} vintage dresser makeover!
We all know the transformative power of paint! It’s definitely no secret my friends.
Itโs inexpensive, easy to use and the possibilities are endless really โ from walls, to furniture and everything in between, paint is by far the easiest way to transform the look and feel of pretty much anything!
Seriously, it’s the DIY’er’s version of the Midas Touch.
Yet, for some reason, I still find myself surprised each and every time I put it to work. Surprised at how quick and easy it is to create such an impact. Surprised at just how drastic that change can be.
Case and point – this old dresser.
I painted this piece out a few years ago with a bit of creamy white chalk paint and, truth is, it’s really not in bad shape. In fact, I actually still really liked it.
It has a SO much charm and character!
Buuuuut…
I’ve been looking to add a bit of storage to my new office space (can there ever be enough?). And, I was looking for something with a bit more personality. Something that would fit in perfectly with the other gorgeous pieces I’ve put to work in the space…
So, when Beauti-Tone Paints announced this gorgeous colour as their 2017 Colour of the Year, I knew this was my chance – THE ONE I’d been holding out for.
Plus, that name {You Look Mauve-lous} couldn’t be more fitting!
I picked up a can of their “Natura” no VOC paint, which I had tinted with this new {You Look Mauve-lous} colour, threw down an old painting sheet and got right to work, slapping a quick coat of paint all over this beauty. And then, because my farmhouse loving self just couldn’t resist, once it was all dry, I roughed it up a bit with a sanding block to let some of the old cream and wood show through.
Friends, I don’t have to tell you … I was head over heels in love with the results!
The mauve colour couldn’t have been more perfect for this vintage piece!
I adore the way it looks paired with the wood tones of the knobs and top and love how perfectly it fits with the vintage lines of this dresser!
I really think this pretty little dresser looks right at home in my new farmhouse style office space!
HUGE thanks to Home Hardware for sponsoring this post and making it so darn easy to recommend their wonderful stores, staff and products!

Thank you Sarah!!! I adore this beautiful mauve colour!!!
Its an absolutely beautiful redo and it fits perfectly in your office space. I do have a question about it, did you put a finish on it?
Thanks so much Amanda! Since I was looking for that distressed look, I didn’t bother finishing it with anything. I didn’t put any sort of top coat on my bedroom dressers and they’ve been holding up perfectly.
I LOVE the colour! And I love how you distressed it! Such a great job ๐
Omgosh, I love it! It’s amazing how such a subtle color change can completely transform the piece. Thanks for sharing your gorgeous makeover with us at Merry Monday this week!
Awwww, well thank you so much!!!
This is a gorgeous color. It’s not a true purple or pink. I love and so happy you shared at Dishing it and Digging it link party. It’s great seeing what you have been up too.
Thank you so, so much Vanessa! It really is such a lovely colour!
