Sharing what cozy living means to me and why I can’t wait to bring some hygge into my life…
As I type this, big, fluffy snowflakes are falling outside my window. My sweet little man is sprawled out in front of the fire, building all sorts of lego creations while listening to his favourite audio book.
– side note: have you discovered the magic of audio books for your littles? They’ve become the best parenting tool in my arsenal, making everything from quiet play time to bedtime SO much easier!
Hmmmm, now where was I?
Oh yes, sharing this cozy little scene… snow falling, quiet kiddo, sweet stories playing in the background, and this Mama typing away, with a flickering candle burning beside her.
It’s one of those ordinary, everyday sort of moments, but there’s just something special about taking a moment to recognize just how perfect it really is.
And this my friends is what hygge is all about (or, so I’m told anyway).
This little word has crossed my path more times than I could count through the past few months, and each time I see it, I become more + more intrigued. I mean really, if this one little idea is garnering all this attention, it must be pretty amazing, right?!
So, purely in the name of research (and certainly not at all because it’s adorable) I ordered up this Little Book of Hygge. And then because Amazon is so good at marketing even more products to me (or maybe that extra $15 was just burning a hole in my pocket), I couldn’t resist adding this Little Book of Lykke to my cart too.
Just a few pages in and already everything about this little book is resonating with me.
Maybe it’s the snow falling outside + the cold Winter days rolling in. Or, maybe it’s the fact that my entire main floor is totally torn apart and I’m just looking for some comfort + reprieve. Either way, curling up with this book had me dreaming of all things cozy.
I mean really, is there anything better than warming up on a cold, snowy day with a candlelit bath and a great book?
The secret of course, is filling the room with the prettiest candles (find my favourites here)…
And then, once you’re so warm + cozy you’re actually dripping with sweat (just me?), wrapping yourself in a luxurious turkish bath towel…
And finally, crawling into the coziest nest of a bed…
Surrounded by cozy textures and (you guessed it), even more candles…
Talk about the makings of the most perfectly cozy evening (or the Sunday afternoon of my dreams!)…
Just in case you’re wondering, I’ve linked up a few of my favourite cozy decor finds below:

Your bathroom is gorgeous! I don’t think I’d ever leave that tub. Candles are so wonderful. I stock pile mine. All your spaces look so pretty.
Thank you so, so much Danielle! I plan to make good use of this tub all winter long!
Your space is perfectly cozy! I can just imagine soaking in a tub with candle light and then curling up into a cozy bed!
Right?! Sounds like the perfect Winter’s evening to me! Thank you so, so much Sarah!
Ohhhh, audio books! I think I’m going to have to try one for myself! I LOVE the idea of not just turning on the TV for your little guy, having their imaginations fill in the blanks, just like reading, awesome! The candles, the beautiful cozy bath and your sweet bedroom, all of it the epitome of cozy! SO happy to be on this cozy journey with you! xooxox
Kristi, your bedroom and bathroom are so so pretty! The tub is amazing and I love all the details in both rooms. I’ve started looking for new lights next to the mirror in my own bathroom and I like yours. The Turkish towel is pretty! I’ve never had one.
Thank you so, so much Jennifer! This series really speaks to me and I’m so grateful and excited to be included with so many fabulous bloggers! I can’t thank you enough!
Everything is just beautiful!! I’m curious to know if the greenery in the vases is real, or artificial? What’s it called? So pretty.
Thank you Suzanne! The greenery is actually faux lambs ear: http://amzn.to/2zlnbOK. It’s my favourite plant to decorate with all year long!
Gah! That tub is just heaven on earth. Mmmmmm! Beautiful post, Kristi!
Thank you so, so much Lauren! It’s my favourite place to be through these cold winter months!
Your bathrooms is still one of my favorite room makeovers and I love that Turkish towel! I’ve actually thought about audio books for my little one, such a great idea! My husband listens to them to and from work but I’ve never thought about it for our son. Thanks for sharing 🙂
You are so, so sweet! Thank you so much for your kind words my friend! And yes, audio books for our little guy have been a total game changer – I wish I’d thought of it sooner!
I love the thought of a nice bath, wonderful book and candle…but sadly as soon as I would soak in, my kids would start calling out my name and ruin the moment! 🙂 your bath is so pretty!
Hahaha! I hear ya! I try to plan it for an afternoon while the boys are out or later in the evening after our little guy has gone to bed. Thanks os much Laura!
This sounds like the perfect way to end the day, Kristi! Such warm, cozy spaces. We’re definitely going to need a little Hygge for ourselves… 🙂
Ahhhhh, thank you! Who doesn’t need a little hygge this time of year!
I am obsessed with your bedroom wallpaper. Can I ask where you purchased it? Your bedroom and bath are simply dreamy. Love it! Thanks for the cozy inspiration.
