SHARING MY FAVOURITE READS FROM THE WEEK

Can you even believe that we’re nearing the end of June already?! With (online) school done for the year, we’re officially in Summer vacation mode around here and honestly, I’m not sure who is most excited. We’re already enjoying our slower mornings and less structured days – filling our time with runs, bike rides, and a whole lot of playing outdoors.
Though Summer is going to look a little different this year, we’re still planning to have some fun adventures together. We’re hoping to do a bit of low-key travel around our province, hitting the Rocky Mountains, and maybe even venturing into BC for some mountain biking (of course, that will depend on how things open up through the next month or two). We’re thinking we might rent a holiday trailer (have you heard of this?) to camp instead of staying in hotels like we usually do. It won’t be the big holiday we’d planned, but I think it’ll be a really fun way to make the most of our Summer and still have some adventures to look forward to.
We also have a summer of paddle boarding to look forward to as well thanks to a very thoughtful birthday gift (I just so happen to be turning 36 today!). Brady surprised me with paddle boards for the whole family for my birthday and I can’t wait to put them to work exploring all sorts of lakes around the province together! In case you’re curious, we did a whole ton of research and decided on a pair of these for Brady and I (I got the 126 and Brady went with the 130) and then this junior SUP for Carson.
On the blog this week, I shared a tour of all of the handmade wood signs I’ve used around the house…

Behind the scenes, we’ve been plugging away at the basement, hoping to get the drywall ready for mudding and taping in the next couple of weeks. I’ve been putting together a mood board for our design plans, which I hope to share here on the blog soon.
And now, while I sip my morning coffee, here’s what I’ll be catching up with this weekend…

Carson and I are planning to whip up a batch of these raspberry Lemon Brioche Rolls this weekend.
After plugging away for nearly two weeks, I finally finished up this book. Honestly, it wasn’t really what I had expected and, though it was very well written, there just wasn’t enough of a story there for me. I can’t not finish a book though, even if I’m not enjoying it as much as I should. I was excited to pick up my next read and just two days in, I’m nearly halfway through – definitely enjoying this one!
And just in case you’re looking for a few more ideas for Summer reads – what makes a perfect beach read anyway?
Wishing you the most lovely weekend my friends!
