Hello friends!
Welcome to WEEK FOUR of this crazy One Room Challenge journey!
I don’t know about you, but I cannot believe we are already four weeks into this …
With just two weeks left to go, I’d say we’ve got our work cut out for us.
You know, considering we don’t even have walls, or finished floors for that matter.
Truth is, with each passing day, I’m growing more and more doubtful that we’ll actually be able to pull this all off in time.
But, I haven’t lost all hope yet.
It’s crunch time my friends!
In fact, last night we were hard at work until nearly midnight finishing up laying all that gorgeous floor tile.
After many, many hours of work and a few lessons learned the hard way, I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to say that we’re done with the tiling … well okay, almost done with the tiling.
There’s still the bottom row of tile to cut in on the shower walls, the shower floor to lay and of course, the small task of adding grout to it all (guess I better figure out what colour we’re going to go with for that!).
But at least we’re finally, FINALLY, starting to see it come together, if only just a bit.
So, what’s the plan for this week?
Well, I’m hoping to see the tiling 100% completely finished (which will feel SO darn good!!!) and hopefully, we can get those plank walls up and painted, and of course, get the electrical all sorted out behind them).
Boy, will I feel better when we’ve actually got walls again (you know, nearly five weeks in if we’re lucky!).
Here’s a quick little recap of what’s left (find all the details about our plans for the finished space here):
– demo yucky old bathroom
– install electrical for new lights (from one to three)
– install plumbing for new sinks (from one to two)
– install plumbing for turning the toilet
– install plumbing for new tub
– build out shower base
– tile shower walls and floor
– tile bathroom floor
– install drywall
– install plank walls
– paint plank walls
– make double vanity
– install new vanity, sinks, & faucets
– install tub and roman faucet
– install toilet
– install shower head and tap
– paint & install new baseboards (like this)
– install new lighting
– install glass enclosure for shower
– hang mirrors
– hang towel hooks, paper holder and hand towel ring
– decorate
*Technically, we didn’t actually cross anything off of the list this week, but we were close!
I bet you’re wondering what this is all costing us and how I’m keeping track of it all …
I’m putting my favourite budgeting tool to work again on this project. ItSums has been such a huge help as we plan each renovation project throughout our home! Honestly, I can’t say enough great things about this brilliant site! It keeps track of links, photos and costs for every product we use. It also organizes it all into categories so we can see how much we’ve spent and on what, and it even let’s us mark things as purchased, so that we know exactly how much we’ve spent and how much we’ve still got to budget for. You’re definitely going to want to hop on over to our Farmhouse Style Bathroom board to see how it all works!
We are SO incredibly lucky to be teaming up with some AHHHHHMAZING companies as we take on this crazy renovation! Sending out SUCH a big thank you to the following companies for sponsoring this makeover (and making it so easy to recommend them and their fabulous products!):
ItSums | Sherwin-Williams
The Builder Depot | Home Depot Canada | American Standard Canada
Now, be sure to check out the other One Room Challenge Makeovers – there’s A TON of talent to see my friends!
Let’s do this!

Every one of those tile selections is so perfect! I can’t imagine how exhausted you guys after all that tiling, but it will be worth it!

Thank you SO much Kourtney! I just love that you think we’re being BOLD … I always feel like we fall on the neutral (and therefore more boring) side of the spectrum, so that really makes me happy to hear! Thanks again girl!!!
After perusing your list of still to do’s noticed couple of them are not quite as time consuming as hanging tile. Wish I could be there to help out with some things so you two could take an extra breath now and then, relax just a smidgeon. Hope you have some help with little one and your list. How is your little one handling all this?
Know it’s hard to see light at end of tunnel at this point but keep on , keeping on.
Everything you two have done is for incredible common goal so at end you will feel so much better, .have confidence in your abilities. Wishing you two a productive weekend.
